About the role

The School of Health Sciences seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer and Sydney Coordinator for the National Biomedical Science program. The primary responsibility of this position will be the coordination, development, and delivery of the Biomedical Science Program on the Sydney campus. This includes working with colleagues to ensure quality and authenticity in all areas of the undergraduate curriculum, providing leadership in relation to the design, implementation and ongoing review of the undergraduate program and working closely with student services to ensure an efficient and excellent student experience. Additionally, this position will provide opportunity to build research capacity within the School. This role reports to the Discipline Lead of Biomedical Science, working closely with multidisciplinary academics across all campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiation, development and review of course material.
  • Coordination of National Courses
  • The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.
  • The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions.
  • Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.
  • The conduct of research aligned to the University’s Research Strategic Plan
  • Significant role in research projects including, where appropriate, leadership of a research team.
  • Consultation with students.
  • Broad administrative functions.
  • Marking and assessment.
  • Attendance at departmental and/or faculty meetings and a major role in planning or committee work.at departmental and/or faculty meetings and a major role in planning or committee work.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Possession of doctoral qualification in an area of Biomedical Science
  • Applicable teaching knowledge in a higher education setting.
  • Skilled communicator with in-depth ability to prioritise work tasks and capability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
