About the role
This position reports to the National Manager, Student Wellbeing and operates as a first point of contact for students to discuss grievances, complaints of disclosure of sexual harm.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate as a first point of contact for students who wish to talk with someone about a concern that is affecting their ability to undertake their studies at the University, including a grievance or complaint, or a disclosure of sexual assault, sexual harassment, or family and domestic violence.
- Listen empathetically and provide information regarding reporting options that will assist the student to make informed decisions about how best to address their concerns.
- Provide co-ordinated support including, where appropriate, making referrals to internal and external support services and liaising with other staff on actions required.
- Work with relevant staff to co-ordinate, develop and implement training plans, programs and materials to raise awareness, prevent and address the drivers of sexual assault and sexual harassment in accordance with internal and external best practice principles.
- Deliver effective, high-quality in-person and online training programs to varied groups of staff and students whilst maintaining privacy, confidentiality and compliance.
- Co-ordinate and drive communications, marketing strategies and projects to engage students and staff in training, awareness and education initiatives.
- Build and sustain strong relationships, collaborations and networks with internal and external subject matter experts, associations, student groups, service providers, Schools and Offices to deliver high quality and consistent services.
- Record data on matters raised and analyse and report on trends and systemic issues to inform continuous improvement in education, awareness and response processes.
- Grievance Resolution and Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Assault & Sexual Harassment, including confidentiality requirements as appropriate.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Possession of a degree with subsequent relevant experience or a combination of experience, education and training in a similar role.
- Ability to demonstrate and provide professional specialised expertise, with ability to effectively understand and apply policies, procedures and standards.
- Operate effectively under general direction by exercising technical and analytical skills to record and report on data.
- Demonstrated ability to apply high level interpersonal, customer service and communication skills (both verbal and written), including an ability to engage, resolve and use judgement to escalate matters as required.
- Deliver services on a broad range of issues, demonstrating confidentiality, ethical and professional evidence-based support.
- Effective time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, solve problems, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
