The Finance Office plays an integral role in the success of the University ensuring responsible stewardship through financial performance and strategic procurement, with a view to financial sustainability and growth.
About the role
The Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting supports the Manager, Financial Reporting in maintaining accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting across the University. The role contributes to statutory compliance, treasury, insurance and internal control activities, while providing practical financial accounting advice to senior leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support high-quality financial reporting outcomes, including cash flow management and forecasting.
- Interpret accounting standards, legislation and policies, and provide guidance on their impact for the University.
- Lead key taxation activities, including annual FBT data gathering, process reviews and risk management.
- Provide financial accounting and taxation advice on University initiatives, transactions and business decisions.
- Contribute to treasury, investment and borrowing activities, as well as annual insurance renewals and risk reviews.
- Support month-end, annual audit and year-end processes, and supervise Assistant Accountants including reconciliation reviews.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- CA or CPA level qualification, with relevant professional experience.
- Experience managing financial accounting and reporting services in a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of AASB and IFRS, plus GST, FBT and payroll tax legislation.
- High-level accounting, numeracy and reconciliation skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Well-developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical solutions.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and organisational skills, with supervisory experience highly regarded.
