Student Administration at the University of Notre Dame provides expertise, service and operational support to students across a broad range of student administration, student service and key regulatory, policy and compliance functions that support the academic decisions of the Faculties, Schools and other relevant departments at the University.
About the role
The Student Appeals and Policy Coordinator provides support to students and employees of the University in the areas of student appeals and academic policy management. The position reports to the National Lead Policy and Appeals and will provide support across campuses located in WA and NSW.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and administer matters pertaining to student appeals at the University, provide advice to students and employees on such matters acting to uphold the integrity of the University in accordance with its Statutes, Codes, regulations and policies.
- Support the National Lead Policy & Appeals by contributing to the currency of Academic and Student Administration Policies and Procedures by ensuring these are updated in a timely manner and reviewed regularly based on regulatory updates, changes within the university and/or other drivers.
- Identify and propose changes for continuous improvement relating to Student appeals practices and enabling synergy and efficiency across all campuses.
- Manage the administrative processes relating to student appeals nationally, ensuring consistency of approach across University campuses.
- Research and interpretation of options for decision maker including paperwork and briefing.
- Provide comprehensive support to working parties, hearings and committees; act as Executive Officer, preparing agendas and minutes and ensure follow up of actions.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies and Officers as necessary in relation to student appeals.
- Provide guidance, ensuring staff members across the University are kept informed and updated in relation to student appeals and conduct.
- Collate data and provide statistical and analytical information relating to student appeals reporting on responses to systemic issues.
- Assist with administrative and student record updates, referred student enquiries as may be required.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Degree qualification with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
- Demonstrated experience, preferably in tertiary or other education sectors with exposure to student conduct matters.
- Ability to collaborate across multifunctional teams, providing a high level and responsive service.
- Proven record of preparing high quality documentation with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exhibit high technical skills utilising computer software platforms with experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficient communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships in a respectful manner to influence outcomes.
- Demonstrated relational skills including the ability to gain confidence, influence and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated time management and organisational skills to manage workload effectively, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities.
