About the role

The Junior Developer plays a vital role in strengthening the University’s digital ecosystem by building and maintaining components, pages, and forms within Squiz Matrix for the University’s portal, website, and other digital channels. As part of the Information Technology Office, this position collaborates with stakeholders to deliver innovative, user-focused solutions that align with the University’s strategic goals and support its digital transformation initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, detail-oriented individual to grow technical skills in a dynamic environment while making a meaningful impact on the University’s online presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain digital assets (components, pages, forms) using Squiz Matrix, Squiz DXP, and other platforms to enhance the University’s portal, website, and digital channels for usability and visual appeal.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Squiz and other web technologies, while maintaining documentation of processes and technical solutions.
  • Monitor and improve website performance using analytical tools, identify enhancement opportunities, and implement strategies for better user engagement and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance and quality by maintaining CMS systems, applying best practices for web development, and guaranteeing accessibility, responsiveness, privacy, and security standards.
  • Conduct user research and testing, translate insights into actionable solutions, and collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to align digital initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Support broader digital transformation efforts in partnership with IT and Marketing teams.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in IT, Computer Science, Web Development, or related fields, with strong knowledge of web development principles, usability, and accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Hands-on experience with CMS platforms (preferably Squiz DXP), building and managing forms, templates, and components, plus exposure to digital transformation or website redevelopment projects.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, jQuery, and familiarity with frameworks like React, design tools (Figma), and version control systems (Git/GitHub).
  • Strong technical and analytical skills for troubleshooting, browser testing, debugging, and implementing SEO, responsive design, and accessibility best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities, with a customer-focused attitude and capability to work independently or in teams.
  • Proactive and adaptable mindset, committed to continuous learning, innovation, and data-driven decision-making.
