About the office

The School of Education (Fremantle and Sydney) offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including initial teacher education for early childhood, primary and secondary teachers, and postgraduate programs in early childhood, leadership and management, curriculum, special learning needs and religious education.

 About the role

This position reports to the National Head of School and involves lecturing in teaching pedagogy and early childhood. The role also encompasses the organisation and development of Early Childhood courses nationally. The School of Education seeks to appoint an academic scholar with an established teaching and research skillset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research – Conducting high-quality research to inform educational practice.
  • Prepare lectures, conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, and student field excursions.
  • Initiation and development of course material.
  • Course coordination.
  • Supervision of postgraduate research projects.
  • Supervision of the program of study of postgraduate students engaged in higher degrees by research.
  • Conduct research and lead significant research projects including, where appropriate, leadership of a research team.
  • Involvement in professional activity.
  • Consultation with students.
  • General administrative functions.
  • Support in review and marking of student assessment.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Possession of a Doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline area and a strong research program, including impactful peer reviewed publications and research grant funding commensurate with level.
  • Early childhood teaching as well as tertiary teaching experience.
  • Experience in delivery of high-quality initial teacher education.
  • Eligibility for teacher registration/accreditation in Australia.
  • Demonstrated creative achievement, knowledge mobilisation, professional contributions and/or contributions to technical achievement.
  • Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
