About the office/school

The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery, & Health Sciences is seeking an outstanding academic leader to undertake the role of Deputy Executive Dean – Nursing and Midwifery.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and respected Nursing and/or Midwifery Senior leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of one of Australia's leading health faculties. Working in close partnership with the Executive Dean, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Nursing & Midwifery portfolio, driving excellence in learning and teaching, student success, accreditation, research, workforce development and stakeholder engagement. 

As a member of the Faculty Executive, you will influence faculty-wide decision-making, lead significant strategic initiatives, strengthen clinical and industry partnerships, and champion innovation and continuous improvement across Nursing and Midwifery education. 

This role reports to the Executive Dean.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Nursing & Midwifery portfolio.   
  • Act as the principal deputy to the Executive Dean and represent the Faculty internally and externally.  
  • Lead initiatives that enhance academic quality, student experience and graduate outcomes.
  • Drive accreditation, regulatory compliance and continuous quality improvement.
  • Strengthen partnerships with healthcare providers, government agencies and professional bodies.  
  • Support research excellence, research impact and academic workforce development.   
  • Contribute to Faculty growth, sustainability and strategic performance.  
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation and high performance.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Eligibility for appointment at Professor (Level E).  
  • A doctoral qualification and distinguished record of academic achievement.  
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery  
  • Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)  
  • Significant senior leadership experience within higher education.  
  • Demonstrated success leading accredited Nursing and/or Midwifery programs.  
  • Experience working with ANMAC, NMBA and TEQSA accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  • A proven ability to lead complex teams, drive organisational performance and deliver strategic outcomes.  
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience building partnerships across the health sector.  
  • A commitment to academic excellence, student success and continuous improvement.
