About the role

You will facilitate small-group learning activities across the Foundation Years of the Doctor of Medicine program at the Darlinghurst campus, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Communication and Clinical Skills, Clinical Debriefing sessions, and other educational activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate weekly Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Clinical Debriefing, and Clinical and Communication Skills sessions for an allocated group of Foundation Year medical students throughout the academic year.
• Participate in assessment and evaluation activities including marking and providing feedback in collaboration with the Assessments team.
• Attend meetings and professional development sessions as required by the Head of Foundation Years and the School.
• Participate in performance development activities as required by the school.
• Consult with students in relation to readings, weekly topics and assessment.
• Provide a high level of pastoral care to students

Qualifications, skills & experience

Lecturer Level B

You are expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline. You will have qualifications and/or experience recognised by the institution as appropriate for the relevant discipline area. You will require a doctoral or masters qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing. In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard is had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or technical achievement.

Qualifications & Experience

• Possession of a Medical qualification registrable with AHPRA and a Fellowship of a relevant professional body or a PhD in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in teaching at master's level or higher or in medical, health or professional practice-based education settings.
• High level of interest in medical education and experience in teaching in small group tutorials.
• Keen interest in maintaining currency in scholarship and professional practice.
• Ability to, or a willingness to learn how to incorporate technology (e.g. Blackboard, Zoom, email, internet) into teaching and learning.
• Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes including online delivery.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work effectively in a team.
• Evidence of a high level of pastoral care to students.

Senior Lecturer Level C

You will make significant contributions to the teaching effort of a department, school, faculty or other organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area. You are also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. You will normally have advanced qualifications and/or recognised significant experience in the relevant discipline area. You will normally require a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing. In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard will be had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or technical achievement. In addition you will normally require a record of demonstrable scholarly and professional achievement in the relevant discipline area.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload and meet deadlines, in a busy education environment.
• Evidence of a high level of pastoral care to students.
