Position: Executive Vice President, Chief Growth Officer

Location: Seattle (Travel throughout the United States required)


Reporting to the CEO and focused on commercial growth, portfolio performance, and the customer experience, the Chief Growth Officer takes overall accountability for the successful development and delivery of the commercial businesses and customer strategies of NWC. The Chief Growth Officer is accountable for accelerating growth, building strong strategic alliances, diversifying and future-proofing the social enterprise/product portfolio, and maximizing the achievement of commercial performance objectives all to benefit the NWC mission. The Chief Growth Officer will bring senior executive-level strategic leadership and business acumen, a high level of entrepreneurial savvy, and the ability to combine the development and management of strong relationships with the imperative to use data and make evidence-driven decisions. The right person for this position will serve as both a leader and an advisor to help amplify the message of disability inclusion and Northwest Center’s unique impact within the space.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Act as the internal strategist and external spokesperson for how NWC interfaces with its customers and partners to ensure its current and future commercial success.
  • Contribute to creating an external messaging framework and awareness/brand strategy for NWC.
  • Become an expert in NWC mission programs and social enterprise.
  • Define, pilot, and activate a community listening strategy. Gather insight to successfully activate that community and build greater NWC and disability inclusion awareness.

Commercial Growth

  • Uncover, advocate for, and advance new pathways for commercial growth.
  • Oversee the innovation of new products and services to ensure that NWC is aligned to meet strategic objectives for customers and constituents now and in the future. Build a pipeline for innovative ideas, moving the right ideas out of a concept, through a pilot, and into the commercial marketplace at the right time.
  • Increase national awareness of NWC and the larger disability inclusion message. Assess the market for disability inclusion. Define how and where we currently play, how and where we want to play, how and where we can partner. Build and advocate a strategic partnership and alliance strategy.
  • Establish, lead, and mature the Sales and Marketing functions as the critical enablers for exponential growth in support of the commercial portfolio.

Portfolio Management
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a long-term (three-to-five year) commercial portfolio strategy and business plan in partnership with Finance.
  • Support existing portfolio growth efforts in partnership with Operations executives. Aid in strategic planning and prioritization. Participate in the selection of new targets, segments, and markets, and help drive go-to-market strategies.
  • Monitor and measure progress to ensure existing portfolio health and future portfolio longevity.
Customer Experience
  • Define NWC’s current and future customer profile, understand customer lifecycles and risks/opportunities, and act as an advisor during the yearly budget-setting process.
  • Listen to our customers. Standardize the CSAT measurement process and timeline. Work with Operations executives to implement and optimize.  

About You:

  • This is an executive-level role for a motivated commercial leader who brings a depth of capability and proven achievement due to experience (15+ years overall, previous senior executive experience required), execution, and leadership in commercial, marketing, sales, and strategy disciplines.
  • The ideal candidate is a courageous thought leader with exceptional communication capability and extensive, proven relationship-building capabilities, having successfully grown and diversified business performance, broadened and improved the customer experience, and driven sustainable business outcomes. $20M+ P&L ownership required.
  • Collaborative and engaging yet entrepreneurial, the ideal candidate thrives in an environment where they can test, learn, and influence a cultural shift to do the same, while working to create customer and commercial outcomes.
  • This position will oversee Sales/Business Development, Marketing, Product Development, and potentially other functions in the future.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to start very lean with an eye on incorporating more functions and adding team members as it makes sense for the bottom line.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
