RETAIL SPACE ALLOCATION INTERNSHIP  

As a Retail Space Allocation Intern, you’ll get the opportunity to put your unique fingerprint on the consumer experience at Northern.  You’ll be an active member of the growing Merchandising function that is building creative solutions on new store planning and space efficiencyWe are a team that champions change, removes roadblocks and builds a culture where everyone can win together!   

 

Some of the responsibilities will include: 

  • New store prototype project - perform store experience review for leading retailers and competitors 
  • Intactix (space planning system) - intro to system operations with small projects in fixture maintenance, addition of item images, etc. 
  • Store/space planning - explore and provide discovery on converting an assigned department in retail from granular planograms to larger category groupings ("sides") and the resulting impact to space allocation, performance metrics, etc. 
  • Reporting and analytics - create and/or redesign Space Planning efficiency reporting into Power BI 
  • End of program presentation to members of the management team

What we look for in our Interns 

  • Must be enrolled or a recent graduate from a 2–4-year Associates or Bachelor’s program  
  • Demonstrated leadership capability in previous work experience and/or extracurriculars 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills 
  • Coachable and self-motivated to learn and exceed your own expectations 
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 

 

Compensation:  $20/hourly 

Location:  Burnsville, MN (hybrid)
