Maintenance Technician – Blow Molding & Industrial Equipment

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

The Maintenance Technician is a key contributor to keeping our production facility running safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of industrial equipment—with a strong emphasis on blow molding machinery. Using technical expertise and problem‑solving skills, the technician ensures equipment uptime, supports continuous improvement, and helps drive a high‑performance manufacturing environment. The pay range for this role is $28/hour - $36/hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
 

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  1. Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on blow molding machines, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to ensure consistent, high‑quality production output.
  2. Maintain and repair all production equipment, including CNC and manual machines, facility air compressors, forklifts, and auxiliary systems that support blow molding operations.
  3. Service and troubleshoot water treatment systems used in production and facility operations.
  4. Maintain and repair gas‑fired equipment, including paint booth burners, ovens, and building heating systems.
  5. Diagnose and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, and related components used throughout the blow molding and manufacturing process.
  6. Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems, including CNC controls, motor starters, relays, sensors, drives, and PLC‑based equipment.
  7. Support maintenance department operations, stepping in for the Maintenance Supervisor when delegated or during their absence.
  8. Document all maintenance activities, ensuring accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  9. Complete work orders and required paperwork in a timely and organized manner.
  10. Follow all company policies and OSHA safety standards, maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and others.
  11. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools, equipment, and workspaces are safe and ready for use.
  12. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, sharing updates, identifying potential issues, and coordinating work to support smooth operations.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the maintenance team and facility operations.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a two‑year technical or vocational degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial or production equipment.
  • Experience with blow molding machine maintenance strongly preferred (extrusion blow molding, injection blow molding, or stretch blow molding).
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical drive systems, electrical controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to work independently, using sound judgment and experience to plan and complete tasks.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as multimeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, leak detectors, tachometers, and airflow meters.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning agents and facility maintenance practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, email, and basic internet use.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent sitting, hand use, speaking, and hearing.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting.
  • Occasional standing, walking, and overhead reaching.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs., and rarely up to 75–100 lbs.
  • Visual abilities include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
