Digital Designer (Hybrid Work Arrangement)

To be responsible for the digital presentation of our brand across online channels and formats, helping to communicate Northern Tool + Equipment’s story to millions of professionals and serious-DIYer’s. To create and deliver quality, visual design assets, promotions, content, and communications to support marketing and merchandising strategies. To ensure creative continuity and persistently enhancing the standards of the brand is paramount.


  1. Produces responsive creative assets for digital marketing campaigns including email, home page creative, targeted category and promotional creative, landing pages, social media creative, and digital ads using Adobe Creative Suite (mostly Photoshop) and HTML/CSS authoring tools.
  2. Takes ideas from concept to execution, working with content requestors and stakeholders to ensure understanding of the goals of the project request and the best way to execute the customer experience.
  3. Actively participates in weekly creative brainstorming sessions, creative reviews, and design workshops to present concepts and ideas, as well as provide feedback to the design team.
  4. Utilizes various Content Management Systems to manage and maintain content across our website.
  5. Manages assigned projects and liaise with project stakeholders to ensure projects are managed and delivered in a timely fashion while utilizing project management software (InMotion).
  6. Produces images and layouts for rich-content that drive product merchandising initiatives.
  7. Develops new design concepts, graphics and layouts for group critique and approval.
  8. Ensures a consistent experience across all customer touch-points by following brand style guides, standards and practices as well as eCommerce design.
  9. Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.

  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 2-year post high school degree in web design, interactive design, graphic design or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience required.
  • Ecommerce/Retail experience a plus.
  • Efficiency with Photoshop and Illustrator in a Windows environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web and email marketing design principles with a strong portfolio of notable quality.
  • Proficient in utilizing a Content Management System (CMS) for publishing content to the web.
  • Ability to create/edit responsive web pages/assets and email templates using HTML and CSS.
  • Ability to create memorable, effective marketing communications within fast turn-around times.
  • Adeptly handle changing priorities and multi-tasking throughout the work-week.
  • Experience with web-based project work-flow and tracking system a plus such as InMotion or comparable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of Company personnel.
