The Northbridge Claims Trainee Program is a paid, seven-month intensive program, starting in June 2020,  which will help you to jump-start your professional career in the insurance industry.

The program will begin with two (2) months of classroom learning with other trainees from across the country. Next, you will receive four (4) months of on-the-job training. You’ll finish the program back in Toronto where you’ll present a capstone project to the executive team. Upon completion of the program you will be placed into a full-time role with the Claims team.  You’ll get to work alongside Industry experts, meet other talented trainees, network, and experience our exceptional people-first culture first-hand.

The Trainee program is geared towards new or recent university graduates who are curious to learn and passionate about making a difference in the insurance industry. No prior knowledge of or experience with insurance is required.

What We Can Offer You

Trainees will have the opportunity to learn about the three largest departments within the organization; Underwriting, Claims and Risk Services, as well as some of the Shared Services who support our operations. 

Northbridge supports trainees in completing 4 out of the 10 courses required to reach your Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation by covering the costs of the courses, text books and providing tutoring services.

What Do Claims Professionals Do?

Claims is an exciting place to start in the Insurance industry. You’ll play a critical role in helping Canadian businesses get back to work when they have a fire, theft or when water damage interrupts their business. In addition, you may assist parties who have been injured in a loss and help with their recovery. You’ll investigate claims and negotiate settlements and work with our SIU (Special Investigation Unit) to ensure the legitimacy of claims. You’ll make decisions based on their insurance coverages and will work closely with our clients, brokers and agents to solve issues and assist our customers in their time of need.  Every day will be a new challenge and you’ll find each claim requires you to think through the best path to resolution for the customer. You’ll work independently and as part of a team and there are a variety of career paths that can come from a role in Claims!  

What we are looking for:

  • A recent University graduate
  • 0-2 years’ of work experience
  • Candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in Claims
  • A maximum of 6 CIP courses completed
