Position Summary:

Looking for a passionate, talented, self starter to join the Western region.  Under general direction, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for executing business analysis using tools and techniques of planning and strategic analysis to support regional needs

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Lead and provide analytical, tactical and operational support to the region
    • Develop and analyse monthly/quarterly financial reports and key performance indicators for distribution to regional Management team
    • Proactively identify trends and solutions to drive business growth, profitability and efficiencies
    • Work closely with the Management team to lead and build the strategic annual business plan.
    • Support regional Underwriting and Sales & Distribution leaders to execute departmental strategic goals and operational initiatives
    • Work with Corporate Finance, Business Intelligence & Analytics, IT and Actuarial teams to analyse and implement new initiatives within the region
    • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure plans are clearly communicated to all internal stakeholders.
    • Provide training, development and technical guidance to users on enhancements and processes business intelligence and analytics tools
  • Communications/Administrative Support
    • Develop and execute on strong knowledge of Broker distribution and underwriting operations
    • Support underwriting service plan achievement; proactively identify and escalate service gaps and work with stakeholders to ensure that service standards exceed expectations
    • Support senior leadership with building regional and board presentations, and ad-hoc reports 
    • Support Director, Operational Management with day to day needs of running department including scheduling meetings, budget management, monitoring and tracking activity
    • Assist with underwriting and process workflow improvement initiatives
    • Provide technical and administrative support to the Operations team
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge and understanding of company operations and procedures and apply best business practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry & technology trends and developments, and regulatory changes through the participation in industry associations and training opportunities.
  • Participate in projects or working groups to support region
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Post-secondary school education and/or equivalent on the job experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the Property and Casualty industry.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of underwriting discipline and pricing models.
  • Proficiency in operational procedures, workflow, and processing functions.
  • Working knowledge of company underwriting philosophy, policy contracts, rating programs, risk information sources, underwriting/technical manual information, statuary constraints, and computer workflow procedures.
  • Ability to work within and adapt to PC oriented environments, including familiarity with e-mail and Internet skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Working towards CIP/FCIP designation
