Position Summary

As a member of the People and Culture team, this role is accountable for providing a high degree of HR support to the leadership team and staff while promoting company culture and values through various HR programs and services within the organization.

We are looking for a seasoned HR professional with an energetic presence and approach to the day-to-day and ongoing requirements of the role and someone who will successfully drive meeting the changing business needs of the region.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide strategic advice, coaching support, and counsel to people leaders and executives to increase their leadership effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with people leaders and executives on employee engagement initiatives to increase engagement and enhance employee experience
  • Advise managers and executives in all areas related to organizational design and talent planning/succession planning
  • Lead organizational development and structure changes for client groups
  • Work very closely with all People & Culture, Learning & Development and Communication streams to ensure a positive experience for employees
  • Execute on people strategies and initiatives
  • Lead critical employee relations issues and investigations
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to create and implement fundamental HR strategies and programs
  • support change management initiatives
  • Provide guidance to senior leaders on workforce planning as required
  • Support recruitment efforts for leadership roles
  • Support leaders with the interpretation of HR policies and procedures
  • Development of HR policies and practices to ensure compliance with current legislation; educate and facilitate training to ensure awareness, understanding and compliance with policies and practices
  • Understand business vision, values, strategy, needs and provide feedback to key stakeholders to align People & Culture programs
  • Act as cultural steward and reinforces the company culture through interactions with key stakeholders, employees, people leaders and senior executives
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to HR colleagues
  • Keep abreast of market, industry, HR trends and leverages knowledge to support the development of relevant people strategies/programs

What we are looking for:

  • University or College Degree in Human Resources Management
  • Minimum 10 - 15 years of related HR Generalist experience
  • Advanced experience in all facets of Human Resources
  • Experience in handling complex workplace investigations and employee relations issues with minimal supervision
  • Experience in influencing and working with senior leaders/executives
  • Awareness of all applicable legislation related to Human Resources Management (i.e., Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation)
  • Completion of or working towards CHRP/CHRL designation
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as Outlook
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines 
  • Organized, with high attention to detail
  • Ability to travel as required within and outside the region
  • Experience in the insurance industry is an asset
  • Fluently Bilingual (English / French) is an asset
