Position Summary:    

The Underwriting System Support Advisor is accountable for the effective execution of the end user experience for all underwriting systems at Northbridge Financial.  As a key member of the Underwriting Process team, this position completes testing, conducts user training and is the user support expert post-implementation.  This position holds the highest business system authority and is responsible for day to day problem solving on system issues by providing user guidance or liaising with IT system support to ensure fast and effective issue resolution.  In addition, the role will identify system enhancements, develop system issue workarounds, uncover training needs, and provide ongoing communication and support for users of Northbridge underwriting platforms.  This role is open for levels 5, 6, and 7.

What you will be doing: 

  • Provide support for the effective execution of the end user experience of all underwriting systems.
    • Ensure ongoing customer service to end users is provided to maintain the timely processing of business and system resolutions.
    • Conduct UAT.
    • Participate in the implementation of training for system updates and launches, and training for new users. 
  • Understand regional underwriting procedures, use all available information sources and stay abreast of underwriting guidelines and service standards. 
  • Identify system training needs, and support the Underwriting System Support Manager in the development of plans to address the identified gaps and to increase overall computer skills for end users. 
  • Responsible for training users on systems.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to the pursuit of learning and innovative change with respect to training methods.
    • As an alternative to face to face training, embrace technology to provide instructional tutorials and training. 
  • Perform and oversee business as usual system business administrative tasks. 
  • Troubleshoot and help identify system issues and report them through ServiceNow.  Working with IT and the Underwriting Business Delivery Leads, ensure resolution of problems or discrepancies. Act as the key contact for IT and the Business Delivery Leads for communicating system issues, workarounds, and system fixes to and from the end user base.
    • Maintain an effective working relationship with IT and other internal business contacts.  Escalate problems to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner and communicate to impacted parties as necessary. 
  • Support other System Advisors by sharing expertise, collaborating on problem solving and backing up for absences. 
  • Work in collaboration with project teams and operational stakeholders, to support the operational transformation to the new Wave Underwriting Platform. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • 1+ years of experience in instructional design creating blended solutions for technical, functional and soft skills training
  • Demonstrated facilitation capability in a corporate environment with large audiences consisting of various levels of leadership
  • Minimum 5-7 years of insurance experience, systems or other related and transferable experience.
  • Insurance designation or pursuing same preferred
  • Basic underwriting knowledge is a definite asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint and Visio
  • Bilingual (French/English) is a definite asset and a requirement in Quebec Region
  • Progression to Senior level based on performance and experience
