Located in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District, our head office is easily accessible by TTC and GO Transit, and within walking distance to the Eaton Centre and CN Tower. As a national property and casualty commercial insurance provider, we also have offices across Canada.

Position Summary 

Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Project Management, we are looking for an experienced Agile Project Manager. The key to being successful in this role, is understanding Northbridge’s values, establishing good relations with key stakeholders, motivating and mentoring team members and following the established Northbridge project methodology. We also expect that the Agile Project Manager has Scrum Master experience running Scrum teams, understands and can apply Agile principles, whilst adapting those principles where necessary to suit this organization. It is expected and a given that you have a good working knowledge of PMBOK and can adhere to set standards with respect to project management of scope, time, cost, quality and risk management, along with the ability to adapt these standards to suit Northbridge’s model and the projects you will be responsible for delivering. You have a collaborative project management style as well as being passionate, creative and customer-focused and someone who thrives on challenges and delivering results.

What you will be doing:

  • Effectively drive results (and adapt) in a dynamic and fast-moving environment while respecting governance and process
  • Set high standards for own work and ensuring high quality outcomes are achieved
  • Provide project leadership, managing complex projects and meeting project requirements
  • Demonstrate exemplary conflict and issue management skills
  • Interacts with tact in a highly professional manner respecting diversity of thinking and encouraging collaborative teamwork
  • Effectively plan, execute, control and close projects
  • Monitor and mitigate risk factors associated with project implementation
  • Prepare project estimates and schedules of project activities
  • Set realistic and achievable expectations for deliverables
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation including project charter, status reports, budget tracking, meeting minutes and project schedules
  • Work with the Scrum Master to remove impediments for the team
  • Work with the Scrum Master to build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on problem-solving
  • Work with the Scrum Master to utilize transparency, inspection and adaption to increase team velocity
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution, valuing face-to-face communication with business leaders, IT leaders, project team members and Scrum team(s)
  • Responsible for ensuring full transparency to stakeholders of the work and prioritization of the Project Roadmap
  • Using TFS or Azure DevOps to track burndown charts, measure team velocity, refine user stories, and obtain information to facilitate meaningful retrospectives
  • Support the Scrum Master and Product Owner on grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Work closely with the EPMO to share and further develop Agile best practices

What we are looking for:

  • Post-secondary education and / or equivalent on the job experience
  • PMP designation or equivalent project management experience
  • CSM or PSM I designation required
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of work experience with at least 5 years in a Project Management role
  • IT developer background is a strong asset
  • Scrum Master experience and ability to adopt other Agile frameworks as required (Kanban, XP)
  • Scaled Agile framework (LeSS or Nexus or SAFe) knowledge is a asset
  • Demonstrated results of delivering complex projects
  • Experience and working knowledge of change management principles and methodologies
  • Demonstrated understanding of Traditional and Agile SDLCs
  • Previous supervisory experience, including mentoring and coaching
  • Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to manage competing priorities
  • Advanced knowledge of all standard PC software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite etc.) and Microsoft Project, Visio or equivalent other mapping or planning tools
  • Strong understanding of various Property and Casualty industry products and terminology is a strong asset
  • Fluently bilingual (English / French) is a asset
