Job Summary:

Nortek Air Solutions is seeking a talented and creative Product Development Engineer who thrives on innovation and efficiency to join the Innovation Team at our Oklahoma facilities.  The successful individual will cultivate innovation while working with other Nortek employees and customers supporting the design of custom engineered HVAC products, establishing and maintaining company standards, and assisting with the implementation of new products and designs.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements
  • Utilize technical expertise and knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to optimize product design for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Collaborate closely with production and sourcing teams to monitor and optimize manufacturing efficiency while ensuring adherence to quality standards and production schedules
  • Create, maintain, and review engineering standards
  • Maintain and review engineering drafting standards
  • Maintain engineering data management system using Autodesk Vault
  • Create, maintain, and review engineering changes notices
  • Create, maintain, and review engineering drawings for accuracy and manufacturability
  • Participate in costing exercises including reviewing bills of materials and labor content
  • Understanding applicable regulatory codes and standards pertaining to HVAC products
  • Occasional travel may be required within North America (up to 1 or 2 times per year)

 

The following qualifications are required for this position:

  • Ability to handle confidential projects appropriately
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies
  • The ability to apply technical knowledge to solve practical problems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Basic understanding of commercial HVAC systems
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience with 3D modeling systems, with a preference given to those with Autodesk Inventor experience
  • Excellent documentation, project management, data management, and organization skills with a preference given to those with Autodesk Vault experience
  • Three or more years of experience in manufacturing and production environments
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Three to seven years of engineering experience
