Job Summary 
Position Overview: As a Nortek Air Solutions Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing power and control systems for custom commercial and industrial HVAC systems. You will learn about the control systems, automation, and the HVAC technology required to ensure the efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly operation of custom HVAC systems. You will collaborate with a team of engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and customers to deliver innovative solutions that meet client requirements and industry standards. 
  
Job Responsibilities 
  • Collaborate with internal sales and application engineering teams to understand project objectives and ensure that electrical power distribution and control solutions align with overall HVAC system design. 
  • Develop power distribution designs based on project specifications and requirements. 
  • Develop control system designs based on project specifications and requirements. 
  • Select appropriate hardware, sensors, and controllers to achieve optimal performance and energy efficiency. 
  • Perform electrical calculations to ensure that components are properly selected. 
  • Write, modify, and test control algorithms and programs for HVAC systems. 
  • Implement controls communications protocols to seamlessly interface with customer requirements using BACnet, modbus, LON, etc. 
  • Configure and integrate sensors, actuators, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and other devices to facilitate system automation and communication. 
  • Assist as needed in a custom manufacturing environment to ensure that equipment is properly constructed and / or to provide technical support. 
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation, including system drawings and bill of materials. 
  • Ensure that all systems meet relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations. 
  • Offer technical assistance and troubleshoot issues encountered by clients and team members. 
  
Job Qualification Requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering degree.  
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate technically, both internally with various departments and externally with customers, as needed. 
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail with effective ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a timeline driven environment. 
  • Motivated, creative, and enthusiastic to learn with the ability to work in cross-functional teams. 
  
  
Job Qualification Preferences 
  • Experience with DDC (Direct Digital Controller) or PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems – with a preference of Automated Logic Controls, Delta Controls, Siemens Climatix Controls. 
  • Experience with nationally recognized codes, such as:  NEC, UL1995, UL60335-2-40, UL508A, NFPA90. 
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems. 
  • Experience with creating electrical schematics or designs using CAD software, with a preference given to Autodesk and/or ePlan packages. 
  • Interest in computer programming, including Python, MS Basic.NET and C#.
