Job Summary

As our Customer Support Service Technician, you will work on commissioning and warranty related issues for various electromechanical equipment and HVAC product lines. This includes all start up efforts such as component and configuration verification of units per customer specifications, providing service and technical expertise to end users, as well as equipment guidance for outside sales and service representatives. We are looking for a high-quality individual to fill this position with our US team.

 

Job Description

 

  • Provide customers with information necessary to run their Nortek Group HVAC products and systems.
  • Controls process and strong understanding of process to ensure program and equipment runs in various situations.
  • Experience with BIM 360 preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with field installations, contractors, contracts and bidding (the commercial side); "systems" engineering and a variety of HVAC equipment (the equipment side); controls and software (the integration side).  
  • Demonstrated experience in managing challenging jobs with the objectives to mitigate the impact on customer’s building/experience while also minimizing the financial burden on the company. This requires working with multiple entities on a job – building owners, general and mechanical contractors, engineers, and local servicing contractors.
  • Formalize through development and documentation job responsibilities, methods, procedures for all areas.
  • Work with engineering, manufacturing on problem resolution and final field and production fixes to service issues on our equipment.
  • Be a part of an “Authorized Service Partner” program to include training on company equipment, a “certification process”, and marketing collateral. These partners would include local servicing contractors and/or the service arms of company’s independent sales representatives.
  • Adapt at building/contributing to CRM systems.
  • Keep up to date on trends, training and manufacturing at our plants.
  • May participate in technology transfer initiatives among IT departments, R & D, and Product Engineering and training.

 

Position Requirements (Knowledge and Experience):

  • Product experience must include Industrial, HVAC equipment and/or controls, various controls systems, like Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, and others.
  • The ability to foster an environment that encourages initiative, creativity, teamwork, people-development and successful achievement of goals is required.
  • Strong customer-oriented approach that can motivate and inspire others and customers.
  • Three plus years in a technical role, assisting internal and external customers.  
  • Ability to travel up to 80-100% of the time to various job sites for commissioning and warranty work.

 

Job Qualifications

  • Three+ years’ experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC and commercial buildings.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
  • Ability to stay on project through root cause analysis.
  • Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed internal and external customer expectations.
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly and coordinating with outside technicians and ability to follow up on open issues to resolutions. Ability to root cause issues to unit or controls that operate the systems.
  • Observe all company procedures and safety rules.
  • High school graduate. 3+ years’ experience in the HVAC industry or advanced degree preferred.
