Position Summary:  The Systems Engineer will be responsible for technology, security and process guidance for our global infrastructure. The focus of this role is to support end users, manage all local manufacturing infrastructure and assist our global operations team as needed. Global operations include network services, computer systems, file storage services, IoT, Azure Cloud, AWS, etc. The successful candidate will collaborate with global team members to develop and implement secure technology solutions in support of the plant's manufacturing efforts. Provides leadership to junior support staff and manages priorities in day to day activities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensures Nortek approved projects and directives in support of business requirements are implemented in a timely manner, tracks and reports progress as required, and escalates to management when customer expectations cannot be met.
  • Support of all computer & network equipment in the manufacturing and office infrastructure.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains roadmap for all computer devices at the plant which follow Nortek business requirements.
  • Provides 24x7 on-call troubleshooting and problem resolution (global rotation).
  • Provides 1st-level and 2nd-level support. Act as single point of contact for IT services and escalations.
  • Monitors performance and makes appropriate changes if needed.
  • Utilize approved procedures to ensure that hardware and software are deployed, implemented and supported per business requirements and aligned to company standards/policies.
  • Participate in Nortek projects to test, pilot and/or implement new hardware and software as necessary in support of local plant requirements.
  • Train/Orient the user on capabilities of new hardware and software at installation.
  • Other Ad hoc duties assigned by manager.

 

Position Qualifications

 

Requirements:

  • 5-7+ years of experience supporting an enterprise computing environment in areas of specialty.
  • Excellent communication skills that facilitate productivity and collaboration among local manufacturing team, Nortek support organizations, and outside vendors.
  • Bachelors' degree in a related area or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Demonstrated safety focus.
  • Prior experience working in manufacturing plant environments is a strong plus.
  • Proven leadership skill.
  • Consistent self-starter requiring minimal direction.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize frequently changing needs.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as moving and lifting computer and other equipment as required.

 

Preferred:

  • Operating System\Platform Support
    • 2 - 4+ years of hands on experience installing and configuring Microsoft Windows Servers, System Center, InTune, Active Directory administration, Windows 10
  • Network connectivity Administration.
    • 2-4+ years of hands on experience managing a manufacturing plant connectivity infrastructure (including remote VPN).
    • Experience with end to end connectivity troubleshooting and resolving end user connectivity issues
  • Security / Access Control Administration
    • Understanding of Security Infrastructure best practices
    • Experience supporting a technically diverse manufacturing plant infrastructure: Access Control, Active Directory, Firewalls, Anti-virus, etc.
  • General
    • Excellent End User Support skills and problem-solving skills.
