We are hiring Student Support Coaches (SSCs) to help us ensure the online graduate students at our partner institutions have a student experience that exceeds their expectations. As the student’s go-to staff member, SSCs work with students in a specific campus program to proactively create 1:1 relationships and foster an immediate sense of belonging, helping students feel as though they matter to the university community. SSCs function as an extension of the University program's support team, providing support to students that feel seamless. As students have questions or needs, the coach ushers the student through the problem-solving process ensuring the experience is barrier-free.

This position is 100% remote and pays 20-22$/hour. We are hiring 3 to 4 coaches for both part-time and full-time. 

As a student support coach you will: 

  • Collaborate with students to identify barriers, determine solutions, and leverage resources by encouraging students to take an active role in their learning.
  • Hold meetings with students on a cadence that is designed to foster Support into and through their academic program
  • Monitor student academic progress to identify any factors that could indicate potential at-risk students
  • Facilitate new student orientation sessions
  • Foster activities with and between students to foster engagement (the more innovative, the better!)
  • Document interactions with students to foster transparency for campus partners
  • Respond to urgent student questions within 24 hours, other questions within 48 hours and seek to resolve questions within 48 hours
  • Become the expert of the campus you’re at so that you’re able to answer any question that is thrown your way (or know where to go to get the answer)
  • Work closely with Enrollment Advisors to ensure a seamless transition for students between enrollment and student support
  • Represent the Student support team to campus partners, Noodle regional teams, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the Student Support team.
  • Support and adapt to a diverse body of learners.

SSCs typically travel to their respective campus once per year.

You have:

  • A master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, social work, counseling, or related field. We are seeking an individual with a business degree or background and HBCU alumnus for one of our open positions
  • A strong understanding of how university services function; ideally generated from 1-3 years of working at a university
  • A solid sense of the uniqueness of the experience online graduate students and how to support these students
  • Amazing communication and relational skills
  • Ability to work independently, follow processes, and make have good judgment with prioritization 
  • You gotta be pretty tech savvy - we’re an Ed Tech company and we’re supporting students pursuing their degree online
  • The ability to work productively in a remote work environment
  • Knowledge of FERPA, professional boundaries, and can adapt professionalism to meet the needs of varied stakeholders
  • A flexible Monday through Friday schedule and have some available time during university office hours; be willing to work evening and weekend hours, and to adjust their schedule as needed to best meet student needs and availability
