SUMMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:
This position is responsible to working closely with the customers’ design group to develop automotive components for N.A. production. The incumbent will be required to perform all aspects of the business including design engineering, Catia 3D modeling, digital surfacing, drawing, reverse engineering, part selection, costing, and project management.
 
 
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • DESIGN ENGINEERING/CUSTOMER COMMUNICATION/MARKET RESEARCH
 
  • Design Engineering
  • Works directly with the customer's designers to develop parts. Sometimes serves as a liaison between MAS-Japan's design group and the customer's design group; Determines project requirements.
  • Coordinates and reviews engineering schedules.
  • Plans and develops B2B promotions by developing part designs using the Catia system in the design group; Creates designs in line with company procedure, regulations, and customer standards.
  • Develops concept and layout of product specifications.
  • Handles mass production verification including molding, assembly, and warranty.
  • Supports other MAS facilities by attending QA meetings at the customer's manufacturing facility to evaluate part quality and function.
  • Works with the customer to create drawings (customer and internal); Supports for every step of drawing creation, including prototyping, setup, and design changes.
  • Responsible for the verification of actual vehicle compatibility; supports production trials.
  • Works with members of the Cost Planning group to prepare cost information for quotations.
  • Works with the Cost Planning group to develop value-added/product improvement ideas.
  • Customer Communication

 

  • Communicates directly with customer R&D and MAS-Japan R&D.
  •  Proposes value-added/product improvement ideas to customers in presentations.
  • Market Research
  • Conducts benchmarking studies of competitive components and reports the results to upper management.
  • Responsible for developing knowledge of market and technology trends.
  • Research to find user needs.
 
  • OTHER
  • Seeks constant improvement, more efficient and less expensive ways and means in work processes.
  • Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Management.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in the workplace.
  • Reports all irregular issues and problems to Management for solution.
  • Maintains good communication with Management, co-workers, and outside contacts.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.
  • Supports co-workers and other departments when requested by Management.
 
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES:
EDUCATIONAL
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SALARY
At NMB, the pay band for this role is between $62,060.00 and $69,550.00 annually, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The base pay is a part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range of the pay band process.
