SUMMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:
The Business Development Associate supports the growth of Minebea products by identifying new business opportunities, assisting in revenue generation, and helping to expand the company’s presence in key market segments—including construction, agriculture, and commercial landscaping. This role is suited for a motivated self-starter with strong communication skills, technical curiosity, and a basic understanding of heavy equipment and outdoor power equipment machinery. Experience working with OEMs in the heavy equipment, agriculture, or outdoor power equipment industries is preferred.
 
This position focuses on lead generation, relationship building, and market research to support strategic initiatives and sales goals across North America and other potential markets.
 
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sales Execution & Revenue Growth
    • Support and contribute to achieving revenue and market growth targets as defined in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
    • Identify, qualify, and help advance high-potential opportunities with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in the heavy machinery, agriculture, and outdoor power equipment industries.
    • Take ownership of early-stage sales engagement activities and contribute to deal progression.
  • Targeted Outreach & Market Penetration
    • Lead targeted outreach efforts to penetrate priority accounts in the construction, ag-tech, and landscaping machinery markets.
    • Conduct in-depth research to identify strategic prospects with OEMs in the heavy equipment, agriculture, or outdoor power equipment companies.
    • Develop and execute outreach strategies using personalized messaging, digital platforms, and CRM campaigns to generate qualified meetings.
    • Partner with senior sales leaders to shape account-specific strategies and support initial discovery conversations.
  • Industry & Market Research
    • Analyze industry trends, competitor positioning, and customer pain points to inform sales strategy.
    • Prepare detailed customer profiles and account briefs to support executive-level presentations and proposals.
    • Monitor key equipment trends and product development initiatives within the target sectors.
  • Channel & Partner Support
    • Support the execution of channel strategies by coordinating with distributors, internal sales teams, and product management.
    • Track partner performance in key market segments and gather insights to refine go-to-market approaches.
  • Customer Engagement & Relationship Development
    • Participate in virtual and in-person meetings with customer engineering, procurement, and program teams.
    • Develop trusted relationships with mid-level contacts and help manage communication between internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist in follow-ups, technical clarifications, and opportunity tracking to maintain momentum on active pursuits.
  • Program Coordination & Technical Interface
    • Act as a liaison between sales and engineering during early quoting and proposal stages.
    • Ensure customer requirements are clearly documented and translated into actionable inputs for internal teams.
    • Coordinate technical documentation and timeline expectations for new program introductions.
  • CRM & Pipeline Management
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Salesforce.com, including activity tracking, opportunity stage updates, and contact engagement.
    • Contribute to regular reporting cycles with summaries of progress, key wins, and outreach effectiveness metrics.
  • Limited Travel 
    • Travel up to 25% for customer visits, select trade shows, and strategic internal meetings. Most work will be conducted virtually with occasional in-person engagements.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related technical/industrial discipline.
  • 2–5 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management—preferably in the heavy equipment, agriculture, outdoor power, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven ability to conduct structured outreach and open doors with technical buyers or OEM contacts.
  • Working knowledge of components used in industrial equipment (e.g., bearings, motors, sensors, mechanical assemblies).
  • Proficient with CRM tools (Salesforce.com preferred), and outreach platforms such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator or email automation tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare customer-facing content and internal reports.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Willingness to grow into a more senior sales role with increasing customer ownership and strategic responsibility.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
No Supervisory qualifications are required for this position.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
A normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office, and ability to conduct a normal amount of work on a computer.
 
SALARY
At NMB, the pay band for this role is between $58,700.00 and $88,050.00 annually, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The base pay is a part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range of the pay band process.
