SUMMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:
As a Global Mobility Specialist (GMS), you'll be pivotal in facilitating the relocation process for employees moving to the United States from various regions or countries, specifically focusing on expatriates from Japan.  The GMS will manage all aspects of the relocation journey, providing comprehensive support to ensure a seamless transition for employees and their families.
 
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Global Mobility Coordination:
    • Coordinate and oversee the relocation process for expatriates coming to the United States, including visa arrangements, housing assistance, transportation logistics, and cultural integration support.
  • Expat Liaison:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for expatriates relocating from Japan, addressing their concerns, providing guidance, and offering cultural orientation to facilitate their integration into the U.S. work environment and lifestyle.
  • Policy Implementation:
    • Implement global mobility policies and guidelines, ensuring alignment with company objectives and compliance with legal regulations, particularly regarding immigration laws and visa requirements.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Partner with external vendors, such as relocation agencies, immigration consultants, and housing providers, to coordinate relocation services and ensure high support for expatriates and their families.
  • Compliance and Legal Support:
    • Stay abreast of immigration laws, tax regulations, and other compliance requirements relevant to international relocations. Ensure adherence to these regulations and provide guidance to expatriates on legal and financial matters.
  • Cultural Integration:
    • Provide cultural orientation and support to expatriates and their families, helping them navigate cultural differences, business practices, and social customs in the United States.
    • The focus is on promoting cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.
  • Logistics Coordination:
    • Manage logistics such as transportation, shipping of household goods, temporary housing arrangements, and schooling options for expatriates' families, ensuring a smooth transition and comfortable settling-in experience.
  • Financial Management:
    • Assist expatriates in understanding their financial obligations in the United States, including tax implications, insurance coverage, and budget management, while optimizing relocation budgets and controlling expenses.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with HR, legal, finance, and other relevant departments to streamline processes, address cross-functional issues, and ensure alignment of mobility initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization in the global mobility function, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency, employee experience, and overall relocation outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as related to the job function as required
 
 
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES:
  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years in global mobility, expatriate management, or related field.
  • Fluency in Japanese and English languages, both written and spoken.
  • Strong knowledge of immigration laws, tax regulations, and relocation practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, HRIS).
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness of international business practices.
  • Certification in global mobility (e.g., GMS, GMS-T) a plus.
 
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
No Supervisory qualifications are required for this position.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
A normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office, and ability to conduct a normal amount of work on a computer.
 
SALARY
At NMB, the pay band for this role is between $63,280.00 and $94,920.00 annually, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The base pay is a part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range of the pay band process.
