Research and Marketing Strategist

The Research and Marketing Strategist (RMS) is responsible to define new products and/or new technologies which could be developed by MinebeaMitsumi Global R&D organization.  The RMS will conduct in-depth exploration and research within a wide variety of market segments to identify key trends and emerging/future product/technologies which would ideally leverage MinebeaMitsumi’s core manufacturing capabilities.


As new products/technologies are identified, the RMS would coordinate with North American and Global R&D teams, Sales, Marketing and Executive Management members to assess the market potential and manufacturing feasibility while developing a business case for new product/technology development. To be successful in this role one must be passionate, curious, imaginative, and self-motivated while supporting the clear end goal of generating new business as a priority.




  1. Visionary Responsibilities:
    1. Evaluate emerging trends across multiple market segments
      1. Ability to visualize new markets where we might enter/expand/grow, ways to reach new markets and ways to appeal to ideal target customers with new cutting edge technologies/products
      2. Ability to think in three, five and ten year timelines to visualize the impacts or required evolution of our current product offering
    2. As a futurist, you must use forward-thinking methodologies and science based approaches to predicting the trajectory of the company’s new products/technologies


  1. New Product/Technology Development assessment and Business Case Creation:
    1. Collaboration with the North American and Global R&D team to ensure the feasibility of new product/technology development, ensure appropriate utilization of core design and manufacturing capabilities, assessment of gaps in resources or capabilities
    2. Perform competitive analysis via key market research.  Assess market competition by comparing potential new products and consider any potential competitors. 
    3. Review potential to patent new technologies/products and ensure there are no conflicts with existing patents/patents pending
    4. Work with sales teams to forecast future sales potential while assessing market penetration capability
    5. Present potential financial outcomes while considering company profitability
    6. Consider pricing, distribution channels, and marketing outlets


  1. Perform all other duties as related to the job function, as required



  1. Advanced degree with 5 years of technical field experience preferred, (e.g. consumer insights, marketing/sales, market research, strategic planning, new product development, etc.)
  2. PMP certification and MBA are a plus
  3. Experience in product development, ideally with experience in R&D
  4. Ability to partner and work well with multiple levels of the organization
  5. Ability to understand and use the organization’s current product and platform strengths with passion to create ideas to generate future growth
  6. Skilled at building strong, productive relationships globally and cross-functionally
  7. Ability to influence thinking and decision-making across organizational boundaries
  8. Experience with developing strategic plans
  9. Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills
  10. Experience in data analytics and proficient with data analysis tools
  11. Expertise in use of Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) or Sheets and presentation software such as PowerPoint or Keynote
