Position Overview:

Reporting to QEHS, the Change Control Specialist facilitates engineering and production change orders through reviews, approvals, and post approval actions to ensure effective implementation of changes.  This is an onsite, hourly position, working Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM.

Responsibilities:

  •  Assists with the creation of new part numbers, oversees change approvals, and ensures complete fields for item activation.
  •  Assists with the creation and maintenance of BOMs, oversees approval, and manages effectivity dates.
  • Assists with the creation of and maintenance of Routings, manages approval, and ensures follow-on activities are implemented.
  • Completes pre-change checklists for submission with change requests.
  • Assesses impact of change with existing work orders, purchase orders, production inventory, service inventory, Work Instructions, First Article Inspections, and customer impact.  Uses that assessment to facilitate conversations with stakeholders for timing of change implementation.
  •  Manages and facilitates follow-on tasks after change approval to ensure all impacted documentation, systems, and locations are updated.
  • Manages metrics relative to quality and delivery.
  • Escalates delays in actions from action owners.
  • Collaborates with peers and leadership to determine key goals and objectives and corresponding metrics.
  •  Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Assists in development and implementation of tools, processes, and procedures of the BOM process.
  • Creates training materials for introduction of new or improved processes.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures in preparing, collecting, recording, and maintaining data.
  •  Manage phase out and obsolescence process to include reduced obsolete stocks to minimum levels.
  • Coordinate engineering changes between Program Management, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality and Logistics departments.
  •  Ensure that changes are considered in production scheduling, material planning, and within physical flows.

Qualifications

  •  A.S. Technical Degree preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in data administration or a similar role is preferred.
  • Must have prior data entry experience using an ERP System or similar database system.
  • Experience in performing PLM engineering or operational transactions, preferably using SAP ERP system.
  • Working knowledge of an ERP/MRP environment. D365 experience is a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Understanding of product lifecycle management and MRP processes.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand Bills of Material on drawings.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to communicate via email, phone, video, and in-person.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to develop working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Must be flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Self-driven, analytical, results oriented, and motivated to work effectively without direct supervision.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate nLIGHT values.

Salary level is based on qualifications:

  • ·         Change Control Specialist: $23.00 to $29.90 per hour
