Our IT Software Engineering Manager is is responsible for managing a team of software developers, leading development projects, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. It includes hiring and developing team members, managing project plans, influencing business strategy, improving processes, managing risks, and requiring regular onsite interactions for effective communication. This position plays a crucial part in the operational and strategic aspects of software development at nLIGHT.
- Directs Projects: Leads software teams through the development of new features and processes for internal software packages. Manages requirements generation, software design and qualification, and handoff to production.
- Develops Resources: Hires, develops, and sustains highly capable team members with a collective skill set to deliver highest quality software products.
- Delivers to Plan: Develops and manages project plans (resource allocation, schedule, and performance attributes) to ensure commitments are achieved; provide regular written and verbal status reports to peers and executives.
- Influence Business Strategy: Collaborates with partners to provide inputs to the business unit and corporate planning processes in support of quarterly and annual planning cycles.
- Improves Processes: Implements and influences business and operations systems in support of product development needs. Drives structured continuous improvement efforts.
- Manages Risk: Escalates issues and drive resolution, as required, to balance program risk as it relates to cost/schedule/performance. Facilitates risk- and priority-based technical decision-making.
- Onsite interactions: Regular onsite presence is required to ensure effective communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
- 5+ years of software development
- 3+ years of software product management, requirements gathering, and software process management in global high-tech industries.
- 3+ years working on or directly supporting a high-tech component manufacturing floor.
- 1+ years managing/directing engineers.
- Ability to motivate, focus, and coach project staff. Ability to influence, manage, and collaborate with external stakeholders.
- Experience with software process management systems and tools (e.g. GitHub, JIRA, SVN, Azure DevOps) and management controls (e.g. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Statistical Process Control (SPC), LEAN).
- Familiar with Windows operating systems and .NET
- Comfortable with C# and C
- Experience developing software for equipment automation.
- 10+ years of software development
- 5+ years of software product management, requirements gathering, and software process management in global high-tech industries.
- 3+ years managing/directing engineers.
- 2+ years of equipment automation using LabVIEW.
- Knowledgeable of IT infrastructure.
Salary based on qualifications:
- Manager: $110,000 - $135,000
- Target Cash Bonus of 6% of your wages
- Eligible for Restricted Stock Unit grants
