Journeyman Electrician

Description

Under general supervision, perform journey-level work in the design, installation, construction, modification, repair and maintenance of electrical apparatuses, equipment and systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain equipment and tools in proper working order
  • Assist with wire pulls, mounting and strapping
  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laborer duties related to the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment
  • Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connection
  • Thread conduit ends, connect couplings, and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets
  • Strip insulation from wire ends and attach wires to terminals for subsequent soldering
  • Trace out short circuits in wiring
  • Solder electrical connections
  • Assist in training of general electricians
  • Participate in the incident management process as required to support overall issue resolution and system and/or service restoral as outlined in the Liquid Web Incident Management Process

Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications:

  • Strong troubleshooting abilities
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to read blueprints and schematics
  • Must be able to utilize a variety of tools to assist in diagnostics and installations
  • Familiarity with state and local electrical codes and safety standards
  • Knowledge and practice of safe work procedures
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to accurately record and document work
  • State of Michigan - Journeyman Electrician Licensed
  • 4000 hours of OJT for electrician
  • 4000 hours of in class training for electrician
  • 3+ years experience as a commercial electrician

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous construction experience

  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment when needed

  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Must be able to work from heights, i.e. ladders, lifts, etc.
  • Works in a traditional climate controlled office environment as well as outside in various weather conditions
  • Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and diverse employee population
  • Be able to lift and carry fifty plus (50+) pounds
