Talent Acquisition Manager

The People Team at New York Public Radio (NYPR) is looking for a Talent Acquisition Manager who will report to the Vice President of Talent Acquisition and Inclusion. This is a critical role that partners with leaders who are dedicated to New York Public Radio’s mission of making the mind more curious, the heart more open and the spirit more joyful through excellent audio programming that is deeply rooted in New York. We are looking for a Talent Acquisition Manager who can thrive in an environment that often requires them to pivot between strategic, operational, and tactical thinking and execution.

The Talent Acquisition Manager is a key member of the People team whose primary focus is to develop and implement effective Talent Acquisition strategies to attract, screen, and hire highly qualified candidates for NYPR.  The Talent Acquisition Manager will also work to build a strong talent pipeline, working closely with senior leaders and hiring managers to develop and execute innovative sourcing strategies aimed at generating candidate flow.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with CPO, senior leadership team and hiring managers to develop and facilitate the execution of short and long-term staffing strategies for the entire organization
  • Manage the entire recruiting process, including intake sessions, drafting and posting jobs, proactive sourcing, pre-screening, candidate assessment, soliciting feedback, communication to candidates, closing and offer acceptance
  • Act as liaison with hiring managers throughout recruitment, ensuring up-to-date status reports, and that Talent Acquisition procedures are in legal compliance
  • Provide thought leadership for and execute NYPR’s staffing and policies, processes and practices
  • Utilize metrics to drive decisions and solutions as it relates to hiring across the organization while continuously analyzing and improving the Talent Acquisition process for measurable results
  • Generate and execute a targeted diversity sourcing strategy and develop and nurture relationships with a wide group of organizations and candidates
  • Cultivate a racially and ethnically diverse workforce by assuring broad recruiting and networking in close collaboration with senior leaders and hiring managers in the department  
  • Encourage networking or recruiting by attending and encouraging key employees to attend national and local job fairs and networking events with targeted outreach to diverse candidates.  Participate in industry panels and open house events. Examples of conferences include CUNY J-School, NABJ/NAHJ/AAJA Conventions, etc.;
  • Oversee best in class organization-wide intern program running three times a year
  • Prepare headcount and FCC/EEO reports as needed

Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience with candidate sourcing and full-cycle recruiting processes
  • In-house recruiting experience at a mission-driven nonprofit or media company is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills—with an impressive reputation for building and maintaining relationships with people at all levels of an organization, across a diverse range of cultural, generational, ethnic, racial, educational and social backgrounds
  • Able to deliver results, and effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects and candidates
  • Experience using professional networks, LinkedIn, job boards, social media, and other innovative ideas to find new diverse talent
  • Demonstrate experience with cultural transformation plans and leadership transitions a plus
  • Energized by a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple searches simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, demonstrates initiative and ability to think ahead
  • Skilled decision-maker who remains calm, while navigating ambiguous situations
  • Exceptional judgment and the ability to handle confidential information
  • Robust knowledge of local, state and federal legislation and compliance standards (e.g., EEOC, ADA, Title VII, Affirmative Action, etc.) 
  • Experience at a non-profit, media environment where employer brand is central to recruiting is a plus
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills and experience with Visio also a plus
