Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Business Intelligence is a key member of New York Public Radio’s Development Operations (Dev Ops) team, which supports fundraising success through technology, data analytics, systems, revenue processing, customer service, and Development communications. They advance NYPR’s mission by creating and maintaining the data products and platforms that drive smarter, faster, and more strategic decision making.
 
This role requires both technical expertise and strategic insight—working with colleagues across Development and the wider organization to ensure the right data is delivered in the right way, using the right tools. They ensure NYPR’s data analytics ecosystem is efficient, scalable, secure, and trusted, while fostering a culture of data-driven learning.
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
Business Intelligence & Visualization
Increases philanthropic support by enabling data-driven decision making
  • Builds and maintains data products by collaborating with team members to understand business needs, enabling faster and smarter decision making
  • Ensures accurate and reliable data by working with the Senior Systems Manager, giving the team confidence to evaluate success and take action
  • Builds data pipelines and automation that decrease repetitive manual tasks for the team, freeing them to focus on strategic priorities
  • Educates the team in formal or informal ways so they become fluent in reading data and understanding how it enables their work
 
Analytics Strategy & Innovation
Maximizes insight gained from DevOps data by ensuring the right tools and methods are used to build a sustainable, scalable data analytics platform
  • Advises on and implements appropriate data strategies (i.e. analysis, prediction, structure) to ensure the best solutions are being used
  • Evaluates and recommends tools that balance effectiveness, scalability, and cost-efficiency
 
Data Platforms and Administration
Provides continuous on-demand access to data insights by ensuring the sustainability of analytics solutions through creating and maintaining a reliable, scalable, and secure platform
  • Maintains data security and appropriate access by managing licenses, controlling permissions, and maintaining an organized environment on DevOps analytics platforms
  • Creates and maintains scheduled automations to make sure data is up-to-date
 
Qualifications

 
  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical field; advanced degree preferred
  • 8-10 years experience in a professional setting
  • 4+ years experience with data and analytics tools; Tableau experience required
  • 2+ years experience with analytics platform administration; Tableau Cloud experience preferred
  • 4+ years experience in non-profits
  • Experience with CRM systems; Salesforce experience required
  • Exposure to a range of analytics tools and methods such as SQL, DBT, Python, predictive modeling
  • Strong communications skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong problem solving skills, highly organized, detail oriented, forward-looking
  • Curiosity, self-motivated to continue learning about new systems and technology
  • Dedication to providing the team with user-friendly, easy-to-understand, interactive data products

Additional Information
This is a full-time role with a salary of $115,000 per year (plus a full benefits package).  
New York Public Radio also offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with vacation time, personal days, sick time and parental leave. 
This role is based in New York City (or the immediate metro area) and operates in a hybrid capacity. This individual is expected to work onsite at WNYC’s Manhattan headquarters at least 2 days a week
