Your Opportunity

Are you based on the East Coast? Do you love leading tricky interaction design problems, revel in simplifying complex information flows, and get excited by dashboards or data visualization? Are you eager to join a large, globally-connected product team, where your contributions will make a meaningful difference? Then this position might be perfect for you!

We are looking for a Lead Product Designer for the New Relic Applied Intelligence Platform, used by tens of thousands of people across the globe. You will be important not just to the Product team, but to the company as a whole. Our sector is complex, but we don’t believe our platform should be!

This team looks after an innovative product that enables DevOps, SREs, and on-call teams to automatically monitor applications, reduce noise in their production environments, correlate production incidents, and identify the root cause of software issues.

Our team thrives on collaboration, and digging-in to fully understand the context of any problem. We value ideas, boldness and feedback from everyone, and we’re incredibly fortunate to work with a really diverse group of hardworking individuals who love defining meaningful experiences driven by metrics, customer goals & user behavior.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the translation of user insight into user journeys, workflows, and overall experiences via sketches, wireframes, high fidelity designs and prototypes
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, researchers, and writers both remotely and in person
  • Conduct ideation and design workshops to foster collaboration, collective ownership and design thinking among your peers
  • Help mentor and coach your immediate design team, looking for growth opportunities and leading by example
  • Drive a user-centric way of working via user research, continuous measurement and testing, working closely with your team to keep them honest
  • Be a passionate advocate for user centricity, but know when to look beyond user requests or anecdotal feedback to discover the true problem
  • Take responsibility for driving consistent design standards in your team, to support an evolving design system
  • Apply both big-picture design thinking and attention to detail to data-rich workflows in a fast-paced environment

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

  • 8+ years of related experience, ideally in data-rich enterprise SaaS products or similar
  • Have a strong portfolio showcasing excellent interaction and visual design expertise, and how you approach problem solving through data
  • Experience with industry design tools like Figma, Sketch, Abstract, Miro, InVision and Adobe products
  • Prior experience working with global teams distributed across different time zones
  • A talent for seeing through complexity and organising information into simple, intuitive experiences that help users achieve their objectives
  • Adept at working in an agile, fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality, evidence-based work
  • Comfortable working with product managers to proactively identify product areas that need improvement

Nice-to-have:

  • An advanced degree in Design, HCI, or a related field
  • Experience of working with enterprise software, SaaS products, or developer tools
  • Experience of designing for data rich environments, such as trading platforms, online betting or complex user dashboards
  • An understanding of cloud infrastructure and experience with related platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • HTML, CSS, and React/Javascript knowledge

Opportunity to work from a remote office may be available depending on applicant location.
