Our mission on the Growth Data Team is to provide deep analytical insights on customer engagement and maturity to our internal teams. Our data platform is built on top of an incredible amount of business, user, and customer data, which allows us to deliver contextual data-driven experiences.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll help us build web applications to visualize and analyze data. Our products will be used by your coworkers and will help make their lives—and the lives of our customers—easier and more enjoyable. Examples of how our products are used include: discovering patterns in product usage, assessing the success and revenue impact of new product features, measuring the performance of our customers' products, and helping sales representatives communicate more effectively with customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Implement performant web application backends that will power rich, interactive data visualizations.
  • Select the best frameworks and tools needed to get the job done quickly, while also optimizing for codebase stability, product stability, and target use case growth.
  • Work with our product manager and data engineers to ensure our data exploration products properly render complex data that align with the needs of our internal customers.
  • Integrate yourself with other engineers across New Relic to learn from others and to stay up-to-date on our company’s engineering best practices.
  • Share and improve your skills to enable our team to deliver high quality data products across the company.

Your Qualifications


  • 4+ years of industry experience working in a team environment building production web applications with a modern OO language, such as Python or Ruby
  • Have a very firm grasp of object-oriented design and automated testing concepts
  • Experience planning and leading medium to large features, from mockups to production
  • Experience mentoring other engineers and working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Experience working on iterative, continuous software deployment cycles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


  • Familiarity with Javascript and modern frameworks, such as React
  • Working knowledge of functional design patterns
