Product Marketing Manager, Data Platform
Portland, Oregon
San Francisco, California

This position sits in our beautiful Portland, OR office or San Francisco, CA.

Your Opportunity

Calling all product marketers with strong technical backgrounds and a real passion for SaaS technology! We are looking for a Product Marketing Manager to support the New Relic data platform.

Our data platform is one of the major core differentiators of the New Relic platform. It lives alongside our analytics UI, Insights, to give DevOps users and their counterparts transparency into the performance and behavior of their applications and infrastructure. It collects more than two billion data points as well as query tens of trillions per minute.

With our data platform’s scale and breadth growing every year, we need an experienced Product Marketing Manager who can help us clearly communicate the benefits of the data platform in a compelling way to our customer base and prospects.

This position sits in our beautiful Portland, OR office or San Francisco, CA.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop product positioning and messaging that resonates with our core audience: developers, IT Operations, and application owners, as well as economic buyers and decision makers including CIOs and CTOs
  • Drive go-to-market strategy for your product, and partner with the launch management team to plan and execute launches
  • Talk about the benefits of the New Relic data platform, specifically for DevOps use cases, to our customers, the field, partners, and prospects
  • Dive deep on metrics, events, logs, and traces—the core telemetry types of observability platforms—with our customers, field, and product teams
  • Translate complex technical topics into simple marketing concepts for diverse technical and non-technical audiences, turning deep and raw technical information into clear, easy to consume, high impact content
  • Enable sales teams by developing collateral and training materials that bring the product positioning to life with compelling narratives that are grounded in customer stories
  • Partner with marketing to craft engaging content such as datasheets, eBooks, whitepapers, presentations, and webinars
  • Perform market research and analysis, and develop strategies that bolster New Relic’s position in the market
  • Increase product usage and adoption among your key user bases, in close partnership with our product and technical evangelists, sales, and customer success
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, and design to harness customer insights that help define the product roadmap
  • Communicate a compelling vision for your product and the overall portfolio through internal and external events

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in marketing, building, or writing about highly technical products
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science)
  • Expertise in crafting differentiated, provocative and compelling marketing content for developers
  • Marketing experience with SaaS products, especially in enterprise software for developers
  • Experience talking with developers and operations users, and a deep understanding of what makes them tick
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-have:

  • MBA or advanced technical education or certifications preferred
  • Familiarity with O11y (and be mostly correct / on point about it)
  • Deep understanding of the telemetry database / big data landscape
  • Hands-on experience with the Java programming language, or another object-oriented language
  • Development experience in SaaS software
  • Solid understanding of what DevOps users demand of their open-source, homegrown, or SaaS time series databases, particularly as it pertains to monitoring and observability
