Your Opportunity

The Director of Product Performance is responsible for assisting the New Relic Product Organization in running New Relic’s Product Portfolio to align with the corporate and departmental objectives. This position will lead the product portfolio of products and services through corporate planning, analytics, and rationalization. The Director will also serve as the central facilitator of product content for all of New Relic.

This role will work collaboratively with internal partners, cross-functional teams and occasionally outside resources to define business needs to assist with better decision making. There will be a close partnership with the FP&A team and this role. The role will be responsible for developing strategies that will include defining product critical metrics that will be reported, crafting managerial reporting that has a clearly defined ‘rhythm and cadence’ and provides actionable information to make data-informed business decisions. Provide management leadership of planning team members and consultants.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with cross-functional leaders to understand details and interrelationships amongst New Relic products and the associated product dependencies.
  • Facilitate portfolio balancing analysis of risk & rewards, product portfolio mix, project mix, etc. to ensure there is an appropriate blend of investment.
  • Provide thought leadership to the Product Organization around product mix investment governance and the processes to rationalize prioritization.
  • Enthusiastically identify and balance constraints affecting the portfolio to minimize the impact on business imperatives.
  • Analyzes the department’s operations to achieve the highest level of performance and ensure alignment with annual and long-range plans.
  • Develop and lead product portfolio prioritization process for new products and product initiatives.
  • Lead the ongoing portfolio and department communications to all partners including functional level and executive audiences.
  • Management oversight of departmental communications, reporting, planning, and financial forecasting.
  • Collaboratively establish standards for portfolio and product management.
  • Responsible for the reporting on critical metric results from the Product Roadmap.
  • Support requests from New Relic Legal in support of Intellectual Property (IP) research

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

  • Requires BS/BA in a related discipline (i.e., Business, Economics, and Finance) with a preferred post-graduate degree in business, economics, management or finance.
  • 10+ years of experience in a relevant discipline (i.e., portfolio management, analytics, pricing, product management, business intelligence, program management) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in portfolio management in IT or Product.
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of people-management experience leading high-performing teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relational skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills. Sound judgment, initiative, flexibility, detail and collaborative.

Nice-to-have:

  • Ability to build alternative solutions and provide justified recommendations.
  • Writing proficiency, visual design skills, and oral presentation abilities.
  • Success in a Startup environment – high energy, quick turns, limited structure, and oversight.
