You will be at the heart of the teams supporting New Relic’s infrastructure and will lead a team that provides a gateway through which all of New Relic’s service traffic flows.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team that builds, maintains, and scales New Relic’s service gateway solution both within our own datacenters as well as those of our cloud partners
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and bake stability into everything you do to ensure a healthy work/life balance for yourself and your team
  • Own and improve your team processes
  • Collaborate across functions, e.g. Product Management and Design to bring the best solutions to market

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

  • You have an excellent command of modern Java and have shipped multiple critical services using it
  • You are excited by, not scared by, very high throughput levels
  • You have experience in the team lead role and enjoy collaborating with your manager to grow the careers of the engineers on your team
  • You know when to deploy off-the-shelf solutions, and when something more bespoke might be required
  • You ship incrementally and often
  • You have delivered solutions within cloud platforms, like AWS, and also have experience delivering outside of cloud platforms
  • You have at least five years of experience in software engineering roles.
  • You have a fundamental need to learn and grow in your work every single day

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience and expertise with using Go for tools and automation concerns
  • Experience with load-balancers/proxies, such as Envoy, Traefik, HAProxy, and AWS load-balancers.
  • Experience with API Gateways, such as Zuul, Ambassador, Kong.
