New Pig is currently seeking an Import & Export Manager to join our team in order to grow and improve our Import-Export operations. A successful candidate will be able to work with US-based operational teams plus subsidiaries and suppliers around the world. This position oversees Export Compliance, and the flow of product from point of supply to; company distribution centers and manufacturing facilities; domestic and international end-users, distributors, and subsidiaries. Reports to the Vice President for International. Position is located at our global headquarters in Tipton, PA.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for establishing the most cost effective, timely and secure movement of goods in all modes of transport (ocean, rail, TL, LTL, small package, and air). This includes Investigating, planning, and implementing strategically effective and relevant transport methods, negotiating, managing, and reviewing service provider contracts, managing carrier and international freight forwarder relationships, and creating policies and procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Guide/advise our in-house logistics team around the operational execution of importing and exporting goods to ensure peak service performance, cost competitive agreements and legal compliance with all countries of origin or destination
  • Manage relationships with Freight forwarders, customs brokers, and Importer of Record (IOR) service providers and communicate with import/export related authorities
  • Oversight and review of trafficking, container tracking, freight forwarders, and import/export documentation management systems
  • Tariff, Duty and Trade agreement oversight - Anticipate, research and report on future changes in import/export laws and relevant local territory practices to make strategic adjustments to methods and procedures to optimize company benefit
  • Liaise with operational departments (warehouse traffic department, purchasing, product development, sourcing, materials management, inventory control, manufacturing, sales) to evaluate new opportunities, diagnose problems, improve processes, and implement procedures related to importing and exporting activities
  • Engage with external Subject Matter Experts as needed to interpret global regulations and conditions for import/export implications and provide direction in all phases of international trade compliance
  • Share with colleague’s personal knowledge of relevant import/export law and procedures, tariffs, duties, and other related information
  • Oversight and accountability for Export & Trade Compliance including maintaining the company’s export product offering, Export controls, ECCN Classification, Sanctions, Anti-boycott, Restricted Party Screening, Forced Labor Screening of new & existing suppliers and the maintaining of the trade compliance manual and associated requirements. Keep abreast of new laws and regulations affecting compliance with import/export regulations and respond to proposed regulatory changes.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management or equivalent work-related experience preferred. 
  • 8+ years’ experience with broad import/export knowledge, including a deep understanding of U.S. customs regulations, HTS classifications, import duties, free trade zones and tariff engineering
  • U.S. Customs Broker license a plus
  • Willing to travel internationally
