About the opportunity: 

NetDocuments is seeking an Engineering Manager focused on Search to be responsible for delivering Search related projects and features within the engineering team. One of the first focuses will be migrating an on-premise search architecture to a cloud provider. The Engineering Manager will report to the Director of Engineering.   


What your contributions will be: 

  • Lead a team of highly experienced Software & Software Test Engineers 
  • Deliver on quarterly OKR commitments that deliver value both internally and for our customers 
  • Data leads the way! Leverage data in Azure DevOps, PowerBI, Flow and other tools to set your team up for success 
  • Partner with Product and Design counterparts 
  • Coach your team and partners, delivering clear, timely, and actionable feedback 
  • Work side-by-side with key Principal Engineers to produce strategic and scalable solutions 
  • Celebrate wins with your team and partners 
  • Grow your direct reports into deeper technical resources 
  • Stay current on Search industry trends and tools 
  • Dynamically adjust schedule and assignments based on priority and other considerations 
  • Participate in daily/weekly SCRUM ceremonies 
  • Coordinate with your Product Owner to appropriately plan work for the upcoming sprints 
  • Other duties as assigned

What you will need for success: 

  • 5+ years of engineering experience
  • 2+ years of Search Experience (Elastic, SOLR, Lucene, etc) 
  • 2+ years of engineering team leadership
  • Ability to use metrics and data to help drive decisions 
  • Experience partnering with Product and Design teams 
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent deliverables in an agile environment 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent on-the-job experience  


Ideally you will have: 

  • 3+ years of experience with Azure/AWS in a production environment 
  • Sound architectural background 
  • Experience testing and validating large scale systems 
  • Proven experience designing and developing large scale, high volume, distributed systems 
  • Success in team recruitment, retaining and growing engineering teams
