About the role
The position is a DevOps Partner: you are embedded in one to three development squads as their DevOps expert, while remaining part of the wider DevOps
community. You are "in the squad but not of the squad" - you enable and support the squad rather than taking over all its DevOps work, and you actively push it
towards operational excellence instead of only picking up assigned tasks.
community. You are "in the squad but not of the squad" - you enable and support the squad rather than taking over all its DevOps work, and you actively push it
towards operational excellence instead of only picking up assigned tasks.
What you'll do
- Write and maintain infrastructure as code - Terraform is the primary tool across both AWS and Azure, complemented by Serverless, CloudFormation, Helm and Chef on legacy on-premise systems
- Support squads on the shared CI/CD tooling (Jenkins standard pipelines, Bitbucket, SonarQube, artifact repositories) - resolve pipeline failures and train the squad on how the pipelines work
- Help deploy and maintain applications across AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3, Kinesis) and Azure (AKS, Cosmos DB, Virtual Machines)
- Work with the squad to make sure operational requirements are implemented in time - monitoring and alerting, cost management, documentation, operational validation before go-live
- Set up new projects and components in line with company standards (naming and tagging conventions, repository, pipeline and quality gate setup)
- Anticipate what the squad will need from the central TechOps and platform teams, raise and refine those requests early, and keep the communication between development and operations flowing
- Spread your knowledge into the squad - train squad members on day-to-day tasks (deployment jobs, editing Terraform code) and keep the genuinely complex work (module development, tooling) with the DevOps team
- Contribute to shared DevOps practices, tooling and automation together with experienced DevOps engineers across regions
- Use AI tools proficiently in your daily work
What you'll bring:
Common requirements:

Key skillsets:
- Terraform MAIN SKILL. Hands-on experience writing and maintaining modules and environments
- Public cloud AWS and/or Azure - solid working knowledge of core services
- Containers Docker, Kubernetes (AKS)
- CI/CD Jenkins (pipeline as code), Git and Bitbucket workflows, static analysis (SonarQube), artifact repositories (Nexus, JFrog)
- Scripting Bash - advanced; Python, Groovy, NodeJS - optional
- Observability Metrics, alerting and dashboards; experience supporting production systems
- Configuration Secrets and configuration management (e.g. SOPS or an equivalent), environment-based configuration
- Databases Basics - Mongo, MySQL
- Linux Basic administration
- AI tools Beyond chatbot level: AI coding assistants and agents (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor or similar) for IaC, scripting and automation
