Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Salesforce Marketing Cloud Principal Architect to lead the design, strategy, and implementation of enterprise-scale marketing technology solutions. This role will be responsible for defining architecture, driving digital transformation, and delivering personalized customer engagement solutions across multiple channels.
As a Principal Architect, you will partner with business leaders, marketing stakeholders, and technology teams to build scalable, data-driven, and AI-enabled marketing ecosystems leveraging Salesforce Marketing Cloud and the broader Salesforce Customer 360 platform.

Must Haves:
- Overall experience with marketing technology should be at minimum of 6 years.
- Candidate should be proficient in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement and have experience with Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (formerly known as Pardot).
- Candidate should also have experience with non-Salesforce Marketing tools, specifically Marketo.
- Familiarity with Salesforce and integration between SFMC and CRM.
- Experience with building marketing journeys and data extensions in Marketing Cloud.
- Experience as a Product owner or system owner for marketing tools.
- Experience managing a team of engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to handle marketing tasks across a variety of sources (Web-to-Lead, online advertising, social media).
- Demonstrated ability with increasing engagement with firm clients and ability to attribute revenue / client growth with marketing efforts.
- Preferably experience in marketing for financial services and sending marketing materials to investors.
- Preferably any experience with AI innovations in marketing.
- Excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy
- Define end-to-end Marketing Cloud architecture across Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Mobile Studio, Advertising Studio, and Personalization.
- Lead enterprise multi-cloud architecture, integrating Marketing Cloud with Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Data Cloud, and MuleSoft.
- Establish scalable, reusable frameworks for customer journeys, segmentation, and campaign orchestration.
- Drive adoption of AI-driven marketing (Einstein, GenAI, Agentforce) for personalization and optimization.
Solution Design & Delivery
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and architecture blueprints.
- Design and implement real-time and batch data integration strategies.
- Architect customer data platforms (CDP/Data Cloud) for unified customer profiles and activation.
- Lead design of omnichannel engagement strategies (email, SMS, push, ads, web personalization).
Data & Integration
- Define data models, data governance, and identity resolution strategies.
- Architect integrations using APIs, MuleSoft, event-driven architecture, and streaming (Kafka).
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
Leadership & Governance
- Serve as the technical authority for Marketing Cloud engagements.
- Lead architecture reviews, design governance, and best practices enforcement.
- Mentor architects, developers, and consultants across programs.
- Engage with executive stakeholders to align technology with business outcomes.
Innovation & Thought Leadership
- Drive innovation using AI, automation, and advanced analytics.
- Build reusable accelerators and frameworks for faster delivery.
- Contribute to pre-sales, solutioning, and proposal development.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in CRM/MarTech, with 5+ years in Salesforce Marketing Cloud architecture.
- Deep expertise in:
- Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio
- Contact Builder & data modeling
- AMPscript, SSJS, SQL
- Strong experience with Salesforce Data Cloud (CDP).
- Proven experience in multi-cloud Salesforce architecture.
- Hands-on experience with integration platforms (MuleSoft preferred).
- Experience designing enterprise-scale marketing solutions.
- Salesforce Certifications (preferred/expected):
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud Consultant
- Marketing Cloud Developer
- Salesforce Architect certifications (Application/System/CTA preferred)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AI-driven marketing (Einstein, GenAI use cases).
- Knowledge of Customer Identity, Consent Management, and Data Privacy frameworks.
- Exposure to Personalization tools (Interaction Studio / Marketing Cloud Personalization).
- Experience in B2C and/or B2B marketing transformations.
- Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps practices.

Salary: $160,000-$200,000/year Depending upon experience.
