The role at a glance:

Regional Marketing Managers at NBBJ work closely with NBBJ’s Market Leadership – Market Leaders, Practice Marketing Directors, Global Director of Marketing and the overall NBBJ Marketing Studio.   

Regional Marketing Managers orchestrate effective new business/prospect efforts. They organize and implement targeted lead generation and client relationship programs, lead sales efforts, and implement strategies for thought leadership content programs that underscore NBBJ’s point-of-view.  Regional Marketing Managers provide hands-on creation and management in the development and production of qualifications, proposals and interview presentations that grow potential clients, enhance current client relationships, and supports the execution of NBBJ’s go to market strategy.

The Regional Marketing Manager partners with marketing specialists and coordinators and acts as an effective advocate for members of the team.   

Responsibilities Include:

Lead Generation & Client Relationships: In partnership with senior studio leaders and business developers, the Marketing Manager researches, identifies, and qualifies new leads – from both new and existing clients.


Prospect & Point-of-Sale Strategies: Focuses pursuit teams on the best opportunities. Organizes best-in-class marketing approach. High level of communication with Practice Marketing Directors to ensure efforts fit into the marketing plan for the larger firmwide practice.


  • Addresses client needs and clearly articulates the fundamental design challenge and innovation opportunity through qualification packages, proposals, and presentations.
  • Guides production for the implementation and integration of new collateral and messaging.
  • Develops new methods for engaging with prospective clients in an entrepreneurial way. Communicates NBBJ's unique value proposition and looks for novel opportunities to build awareness of NBBJ’s service offerings.
  • Deploys Lead-to-Win methods and tools to produce best-in-class marketing efforts (value proposition matrix, client alignment tool, interview mind map, thematic cross practice content, proofs, etc.).
  • Conducts Debriefs.  Ensures learnings and insight flow back into the pursuit teams and marketing leadership.

Content differentiation and upfront strategy implementation:  Integrate ideas-based marketing early in the proposal and interview response.

  • Ensures strong market context knowledge and conduct robust research at the beginning of efforts.
  • Encourages side door (cross practice) expertise and lean-in strategies to bolster credibility and value creation.
  • Cross practice content application and implementation, including integration of POV material.
  • Flows relevant external Communication pieces into marketing material (and vice versa) to create strong client relevancy.
  • Migrates quals based thinking to value creation. 

Process and Best Practices

  • Schedules and organizes an effective go/no go process.
  • Leads and orchestrates marketing meetings
  • Ensures the organization and accessibility of practice metrics and marketing materials
  • Works collaboratively with the Marketing Systems Manager and Global Director of Marketing to ensure best practices are being deployed at the point of sale.
  • Leads the adoption and use of the CRM database – in partnership with Market Leaders
  • Advocates and implements Lead to Win strategies throughout the entire sales process.
  • Identifies strong go-to market messaging to be used in client proposals and qualifications
  • Acts as a resource ambassador. Is clearly able to navigate the vast marketing resources and pull the resources in to a support a best in class deliverable

Design Discipline Empathy: The Regional Marketing Manager is deeply immersed within a design culture made up of multiple disciplines, where the scoping of design projects and creation of learning opportunities for project teams is paramount. Because of this, an openness and desire to understand all the various aspects of design are critical, as is a commitment to dialogue with the broader NBBJ architect/designer community.


What you will need to succeed:

  • 4-year degree in Marketing, Communications or other applicable discipline
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of industry/relevant experience
  • Management of a marketing sector and supervisory experience preferred
  • Intermediate/Expert understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Experience in proposal management for professional services firms (examples a plus)
  • Ability to work efficiently under multiple deadlines and manage large teams
  • Knowledge of Deltek Vision, OpenAsset, CRM and other databases a plus
