The role at a glance:
This is an excellent opportunity to join NBBJ Columbus as a Senior Human Resources Manager. The individual that we seek must be a strategic thinker at every level on a multi-national scale, as well as able to dive into the weeds to design, build and maintain HR programs. This person will partner with leaders to provide guidance and coaching to elevate and support our studios in achieving their strategic goals. They must dig in to understand the business priorities and translate them into action that has direct impact to our people and the firm.
The Senior Human Resources Manager is flexible, adaptable, proactive, and creative with proven background supporting multi-state and international teams. They can lead HR initiatives as well as guide complex employee relations conversations and investigations. This individual is someone who is seeking an opportunity to have influence and impact at all levels within the firm, with a passion for building and supporting HR best practices in service of an exceptional employee experience and HR service excellence.
In your new role, you will:
- Act as a senior advisor to studio leadership teams across multiple offices (domestic and international; London) on human resources related matters, trends, policies and procedures - with firm culture and policies at the forefront.
- Closely partner with the Global Director of Human Resources and studio leaders on day-to-day HR matters tied to talent development and employee relations.
- Lead Employee Relations; facilitate complex investigations, craft performance improvement plans and coach studio and firm leadership through difficult conversations to address and resolve employee issues.
- Cultivate strong relationships to be a trusted resource for all levels of staff.
- Project Manage key HR initiatives from concept to project planning, resource delegation, execution, and communication/rollout strategies.
- Partner with HR team leadership to support studios with compensation conversations, including salary strategy and planning.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze quarterly data, to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve performance, retention, and employee experience.
- Design and facilitate presentations to executive suite and/or firmwide audience on topics from analytics, HR programs, strategic initiatives and more
- Partner with the Talent Manager to help successfully drive career development and performance programming
- Partner with the Global Director of HR to execute innovative HR strategies focused on employee engagement, compliance, and organizational effectiveness.
- Provide direct leadership to 3 to 4 HR team members - providing mentorship for continued growth and high performance.
- Some projects this role would lead or support include, but are not limited to: Open Enrollment, annual compensation review and benchmarking, compliance training, career development, and total rewards analysis and program updates.
What you will need to succeed:
- 15+ years of experience in a progressive HR Business Partner/HR Manager consultative role. Experience leading and mentoring a team of HR Generalists, a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Human Resources Management, Business or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a Professional Services or Startup environment is highly preferred.
- Excel at building quick credibility and ongoing trust with our leaders and employees.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and passion for innovative HR solutions - continually seeks areas for process improvement.
- Ability to lead employee relations and investigation experience, collaborating with Global Director of Human Resources with little oversight.
- Experience working with global employees, specifically UK, is highly preferred; or a willingness to learn United Kingdom regulations and laws.
- Ability to deliver results and operate independently, using sound judgement to drive programs forward with little direction.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time, acknowledging that often your schedule may be upended to respond to a time sensitive matter or request.
- Engaging and effective presentation, negotiation, conflict management and problem-solving skills.
- Curious and always seeking opportunities to learn and grow in your role.
- Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines.
- Certification in this role required (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, etc.)
