Overview:
Reporting to the region’s Business Development Unit (BDU) Head, the Chief Operating Officer will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for all aspects of the business aside from direct sales management. The BDU’s chief operating officer will provide leadership to the region’s strategy planning processes and will implement new initiatives. In addition, the COO will provide coordination for the BDU’s senior management team and serve as International liaison to business partners in Natixis Investment Manager's US Distribution organization, working to keep them informed of business strategies, progress, and challenges. This position is located in our Boston, MA office. 

The COO will partner with and support the BDU Head in all aspects of strategic plan development and operational management for the region, including marketplace research and analysis and new market/channel plan development, business partnership strategy, budgeting and financial analysis, product planning, team recruiting and staffing, marketing/advertising, and legal & compliance infrastructure. A key aspect of the role will be to drive the coordination of functional teams in NIM’s US and International organizations to reconcile the BDU’s operational requirements across multiple jurisdictions including the US. The COO will manage a team of operations managers dedicated to sales support, client service, business analysis, and operational functions. 


What you will do:
Strategic Development
•    Develop the region’s strategy and business plan, taking into account marketplace dynamics, competitor profiles and regulatory environment impacts while ensuring alignment with NIM’s corporate strategic vision and priorities
•    Assess the viability of potential strategic partnerships, through local market due diligence, plan development, and target profile definition in collaboration with NIM Corporate Strategy
•    Own the implementation of strategic business development initiatives, leading globally diverse project support teams to achieve deliverables against target timelines
•    Develop and implement a system for tracking and reporting on the progress of the strategic plan implementations
Operational Leadership
•    Provide effective and inspiring leadership by being actively involved in marketplaces and business functions, developing a broad and deep knowledge of the business.
•    Conceptualize operational frameworks and business infrastructures to support businesses across the region, emphasizing operational efficiency to reconcile sophisticated regulatory and commercial requirements in the US and Latin American countries
•    Establish productive relationships with support functions across NIM’s international and US organizations. Provide cross-organizational leadership and drive the successful collaboration among global teams to achieve BDU goals
Client Service Operations 
•    Lead all operational aspects of client support, including distribution agreements, trailer fee payments, and client onboarding operations
•    Monitor and address with internal teams servicing issues that may put BDU client relationships at risk
Finance & Business Analysis
•    Lead all aspects of the preparation and analysis of the BDU’s sales and departmental budgets & forecasts. Monitor and manage effectively within budgets
•    Ensure the financial viability and profitable growth of the BDU through sound business analysis and fiscal management
Marketing & Advertising
•    Lead development of the business’ marketing communications and advertising strategy including creative content generation
Monitor agency performance, contractual obligations, and placement analytics
•    Oversee event strategy, cross-functional support, and expense management
Product
•    Oversee the BDU’s product suite maintenance and development; championing the needs with affiliates and with internal investment and product approval committees
•    Ensure product marketing collateral and reporting documentation is in good order and is in compliance with regulatory requirements in all regional jurisdictions
Business Infrastructure 
•    Oversee and handle operational & administrative matters across the region including resourcing, IT infrastructure, office space, website development, etc. 
•    Ensure appropriate documentation and team compliance with business continuity plans.
•    Partner with legal and compliance staff across jurisdictions to problem-solve regulatory challenges that impact business infrastructure and staffing models
Staffing and Professional Development
•    Recruit, coach, develop and retain a diverse business operations staff
•    Plan and implement professional development training programs. Maintain relationships with executive training consultants, and formulate BDU team training goals and programs.
•    Organize offsites and workshops to build and enhance the team's strategic planning capacity
 
What you will bring:
The COO role requires an individual with extensive and diverse experience in asset management distribution who can balance high-level strategic thinking with a nimble grasp of diverse operational detail. The COO partners with the BDU Head and works collaboratively with a high-performance business team.
•    Minimum BS/BA degree with at least 15 years of experience in the asset management industry. Experience should be with a leading global asset manager distributing through multiple international business channels. 
•    Excellence in organizational management within a global context and the ability to influence
•    Track record of effectively leading sophisticated project implementations with globally diverse teams, using strengths across varied functional areas
•    Analytic and decisive decision maker; able to synthesize, prioritize and communicate concisely the key objectives and tactics vital to achieving organizational goals
•    Experience in budgeting, fiscal management and business analysis
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator
•    Willing to take action, entrepreneurial, flexible, with an innovative approach to operational management
•    Passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
•    Fluency in Spanish a plus
