Position Description:
The Project Engineer provides project management activities for environmental maintenance services throughout California for National Plant Services (NPS). This includes developing estimates, proposals, budgets, and schedules. The Project Engineer assists the Regional Manager to submit proposals, and then directs and monitors project activities such as budgets, schedules, field work and safety, quality control of data, reporting, customer satisfaction, and invoicing.

Location: Hayward, CA (Travel around California will be required)
 
Pay: $70,000-85,000/year. Full Benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO, ESOP)
 
Essential Job Functions:
· Plan, organize and direct activities related to environmental maintenance services projects. Prepare, disseminate, and oversee project budgets, bids, agreements, and contracts.
· Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications.
· Prepare, negotiate, and maintain control of all potential project change orders, track all project costs.
· Develop and update project schedules.
· Serve as the liaison between customers, site operators and NPS employees to facilitate project activities.
· Monitor project progress, attend project meetings, and prepare and submit status reports.
· Monitor and control projects through direction of on-site supervisors to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
· Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients.
· Develop and prepare technical final project reports, focusing on accuracy and attention to detail.
· Work with dispatcher to assign workers to sites.
· Prioritize safety, is conscientious, dependable, and quality-minded.
· Willingness to work with a team.
· Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards and as assigned by management.
 
Qualifications:
· Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of contract administration, project management, engineering, budget, accounting, and scheduling.
· Goal-oriented and action-focused, pragmatic, self-disciplined and organized.
· Communication skills and ability to motivate and delegate to accomplish projects.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment with a wide range of constituents to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
· Prepare written documents and final project reports with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar.
· Read and interpret plans and specifications.
· Analyze complex problems, interpret project needs, and develop creative solutions.
· Ability to perform physical work indoors and outdoors and sometimes in dirty environments.
· Ability to pass safety training exams and the background check required by both Carylon, NPS and customers.

Travel
Day and some overnight travel (up to 15% out of town) within California to various client worksites is required.
 
Education and Experience:
· BA/BS degree, Engineering Degree preferred
· 1-5 years of experience
· Mechanical aptitude.
· Attention to detail.
· Excellent writing skills.
· Mathematical skills.
· Proficiency in MicroSoft Products, including Word and Excel
