Community Education Specialist

Position Summary:

The Community Education Specialist (CES) will conduct outreach efforts resulting in the establishment and maintenance of community college pathways. Working with the current outreach team, the CES plans, coordinates, and implements outreach strategies and activities, as well as, represents the University to external constituents. CES will meet with and offer presentations aimed at generating stronger pathways and relationships with assigned community colleges. The CES will represent National University to a regional population of community colleges within an assigned territory.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages healthy relationships with (Transfer Centers, Career Services, EOPS, General Counseling, Veterans Centers, International Students Offices, Financial Services, Articulation Officers) at assigned CC’s to support awareness and collaboration of NU academic pathways and scholarships.
  • Responsible for community college outreach by working in coordination with NU leadership, faculty and staff, to identify potential partnership opportunities, resulting in increased community college transfer rates and overall institutional awareness.
  • Develops opportunities to host, sponsor, or conduct information sessions for potential students and organize/participate in NU and community college sponsored events and activities.
  • Partners with Academics to identify and develop opportunities for program and pathway development that meet the current needs of transfer centers, students, and employers.
  • Provides CC’s with monthly transfer numbers of students to NU from their CC, the programs, and graduation rates.
  • Attends networking events to develop industry and community contacts.
  • Develops relationships between NU and Community Colleges.
  • Informs management on outreach and partnership activities; meet with leadership for planning direction, documents, and tracks outreach efforts in CRM On-Demand for reporting purposes.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure proper recording of data and successful obtainment of lead generation, to ensure outreach and partnership goals are met.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in higher education, community college, admissions, or business development.

Travel: Regional travel 60-75% (Must have a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation)
