About Our Kids Center:
The Our Kids Center specializes in providing medical and psychosocial evaluations for children when there are concerns of child sexual abuse. Serving approximately 750 children in Middle Tennessee each year, Our Kids is a recognized leader in forensic medical evaluations and research in this field. The successful candidate will be a PRN employee of Nashville General Hospital and assigned to the Our Kids Center.
 
Position Overview:
This PRN Forensic Social Worker II provides key coverage after hours (weekends, nights and some holidays). We are seeking a candidate who possesses strong clinical skills, effective communication abilities, verbal and written, and takes a collaborative approach to work within a multidisciplinary team setting and multidiscipline teams within the community.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide after-hours coverage which includes at a minimum 8 shifts per month, some of which are required to be weekends. [weekday shifts: 5p-8a, weekend/holiday shifts: 8a-8p/8p-8a].
  • Responsibilities during shift includes:
    • Assist in triage decision-making when needed.
    • Collaborate with clinical partner to complete acute forensic medical evaluation. Locations include Our Kids Center and The Emergency Department at Monroe Carell Vanderbilt Children's Hospital
    • Complete psychosocial evaluations that include:
      • Adapt interactions to meet the developmental, cultural, and special needs of each child and family.
      • Collect medical histories from caregivers and children presenting with sexual abuse concerns.
      • Prepare children and adolescents for medical examinations.
      • Provide crisis intervention services.
      • Provide related recommendations.
    • Assist medical providers during exams as necessary.
  • Collaborate with community partners including law enforcement, Child Protective Services, and others during investigations involving concerns of child sexual abuse.
  • Write detailed reports and provide court testimony when required.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Master’s Degree in Social Work
  2. Eligibility for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  3. At least one year of experience interviewing or working with children in the field of child sexual abuse or child maltreatment.
  4. A desire to work with children and families who have experienced trauma
  5. Understanding of child sexual abuse dynamics
  6. Broad knowledge of family violence and child abuse issues plus knowledge of the criminal justice  and child protection systems desirable.
