Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a full-time Medical Assistant in Nashville, TN.
The Medical Assistant delivers nursing care for patients across their life span, and through the use of the nursing process, assesses and documents the effects of care under the supervision of a Clinic Manager works cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, medical and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. Processes provider orders and schedules patients for clinic appointments and diagnostic tests as needed.
The Medial Assistant, working in a staff nurse position, utilizes the nursing process to deliver nursing care to an individual or group of patients and accepts assigned responsibilities as an accountable member of the health care team. Knowledgeable of computer functions as trained on the job for HPF, PHS, STAR and McKesson Care Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follows hospital and departmental rules and regulations by adhering to policies/procedures such as confidentiality, code of conduct, attendance and payroll policies.
- Maintains a safe and clean patient care area. Uses work time productively.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Clean and stock exam rooms, requests needed supplies, rotates stock, marks facility charge sheets, works collaborating with other team members.
- Participates in providing information related to health prevention, health maintenance, and health restoration.
- Considers patient cultural/religious practices, learning needs, emotional barriers, physical and cognitive limitations, language and level of understanding, Documents education provided and patient response.
- Refers patients to available educational programs as available.
- Works with co-workers to assure departmental compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements.
- Provides input into performance improvement activities to assist department in efforts to improve departmental processes.
- Is receptive to change and growth. Meets deadlines in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent Required
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
- Must possess a current Medical Assistant School Certificate.
- BLS Required by start date
- CPI Required within 90 days of start date
- Experienced in triage/patient screening, obtaining patient vitals, and the ability to perform routine clinical and administrative duties typical of those performed in a physician’s practice.
- Knowledge of hospital and department Mission, Vision and Values as well as policies and procedures, patient care procedures and the ability to operate technical equipment as acquired through orientation.
