Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse is a professional caregiver who assists the Registered Nurse in providing care for an assigned group of patients for a designated time frame. The staff Licensed Practical Nurse provides care for these individuals via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the therapeutic environment, treatment and modalities and interdisciplinary collaboration
 
Education: High School Diploma or Higher Required
 
Licensure/Certification: Have a current licensure or permit to practice as a LPN Nurse in the State of Tennessee or compact state.  BLS required.  CPI Required within 90 days of hire.
 
Experience & Knowledge: Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development necessary for assessment, range of treatment, and care of forensic patients ranging from adult through geriatrics. Knowledge of hospital and departmental procedures, patient care procedures and the ability to operate technical equipment as acquired through orientation.
 
A working knowledge of TN Department of Corrections and Davidson County Sheriff's Department policy and procedures when interacting with forensic patients.
