Operating Room Support Coordinator
Description
Nashville General Hospital is hiring an experienced OR Support Coordinator.
The Operating Room Support Coordinator coordinates daily operating room schedules and ensures the availability and efficient use of equipment, instruments, and supplies to support surgical procedures. This role collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, Sterile Processing, and other departments to facilitate efficient patient flow and optimize operating room operations. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operating Room Manager based on departmental and operational needs.
As an Operating Room Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
- Coordinate daily operating room schedules to support efficient surgical operations.
- Ensure the availability of operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and Sterile Processing to support patient flow and case readiness.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the ordering and replenishment of surgical supplies.
- Maintain accurate records, physician preference cards, and departmental documentation.
- Assist with operating room workflow, case turnover, and resolving scheduling issues.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operating Room Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; related hospital experience preferred.
- One to two years of experience in Surgical Services required; experience as a Surgical Technologist is strongly preferred.
- One year of secretarial or administrative experience in a hospital setting and/or two years of experience with central sterile supplies, inventory control, or related healthcare support preferred.
- Knowledge of operating room workflow, surgical procedures, and medical terminology.
