Adjunct Instructor – Phlebotomy Technician Program
Description
The instructor teaches in accordance with the certification exam content specifications. The instructor is expected to plan, organize, and teach in a manner that is in harmony with the program’s mission and goals.
Job Duties:
• Maintain an environment conducive to effective learning using the resources provided.
• Plan, select, prepare and implement appropriate active learning activities to meet all course
competencies.
• Conduct in-person practical application of classroom learning through hands-on training and lab
exercises.
• Conduct all coordination and preparation for classes and skills labs.
• Prepare students for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam by providing instruction
on topics such as physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and laboratory procedures.
• Report any concerns with instructional materials, lesson plans and skills demonstration to the
Director.
• Report to the Director with any concerns for students that may be having difficulties in the
course immediately to determine plan of action for the student.
• Instruct students in proper phlebotomy techniques, safety protocols, and best practices.
• Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain a supportive and confidential learning environment.
Experience:
• Two years’ experience as a Certified Phlebotomist, or other healthcare professional with
experience performing venipuncture.
• Teaching experience.
Education:
• Minimum high school diploma (or equivalent)
• Completed phlebotomy training
Certification & Licensures: Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent
